After successfully completing a lengthy sea journey inside containers, a convoy of vintage cars from the foggy land has finally arrived in Vietnam. These cars belong to the UK-based Global Rally organization and have chosen Hoi An as the starting point for their journey to Myanmar and back.

The convoy is composed of numerous rare vintage cars, including popular brands such as Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, and Aston Martin. Additionally, two 1995 Toyota Land Cruisers, equipped with a snorkel and a Land Rover, were also part of the convoy. All of these cars are adorned with UK license plates and the Global Rally logo for this year.

To ensure easy control and convenience, the convoy is limited to a maximum of 25 cars, all staying in the same hotel. As mandated by the Global Rally Organization (GRO), the presence of the Land Cruisers is indispensable, as they provide 4×4 support for cargo and towing when necessary.

Another strict rule set by GRO is that driving at night is strictly prohibited. Hence, the entire convoy rests from the late afternoon onwards.

The convoy includes experienced automotive engineer Paul Marsh among its members. Despite residing in Cape Town, South Africa, Marsh decided to join the UK convoy for this journey. Marsh’s most recent “adventure” involved covering an astounding 20,000 km in just 2 months during the Siberia convoy.

The Royal Hoi An Hotel serves as the resting place for the entire convoy.

The Porsche remains covered inside the shipping container until it arrives in Vietnam.

The renowned Toyota Land Cruiser, known for its durability, participates as a supporting vehicle.

Furthermore, the Land Rover Discovery adds a touch of Britishness to the SUV group.

GRO is a non-profit organization originating from the UK, established by members of the Around the World in 80 Days rally group in 2000 and the London-Sydney Friendship Rally in 2005. The members of GRO possess significant experience and an unwavering passion for vintage cars and exploration.
