Thaco officially introduced the BMW XM performance luxury SUV model to Vietnamese customers on November 11, 2023. This marks the entry of the most powerful X-Series car from the German brand into our market. The price of the BMW XM in Vietnam is not cheap, with only one version available at a selling price of 10.999 billion VND. This makes it the second most expensive BMW model in Vietnam, after Mr. Do Quang Hien’s BMW M760Li.
Despite its high price, the BMW XM still attracts Bimmer enthusiasts. At least 3 cars have been spotted on Vietnamese streets, including a BMW XM in cement gray with yellow stripes, featuring the national team livery of the BMW XM. Many people may compare the XM with other luxury SUVs like the Lexus LX600, Mercedes-Maybach GLS, Range Rover, or even the Lamborghini Urus. However, for Bimmer enthusiasts, the XM is still a BMW car worth experiencing.
One interesting aspect of the BMW XM is that the owners not only love driving it but also invest in special license plates through auctions. For example, a Bimmer enthusiast bought a BMW XM for over 12 billion VND and won the auction for the license plate number 30K-696.96, with a winning bid of 960 million VND.
While it is unclear why the owner chose this specific license plate number, it adds a unique touch to the BMW XM. The combination of a beautiful license plate with a luxury car exemplifies the saying that luxury cars come with beautiful license plates.
The estimated total cost of the BMW XM with the license plate 30K-969.69 is over 13.2 billion VND. One of the key selling points of the BMW XM in Vietnam is its plug-in hybrid drivetrain system.
Under the hood, the BMW XM is powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine with a capacity of 4.4L. It produces a maximum power of 483 horsepower and a maximum torque of 650 Nm. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and an electric motor generating 194 horsepower and 280 Nm. The combined power output of the car is 644 horsepower and a maximum torque of 800 Nm.
The powerful engine allows the 2.75-tonne SUV to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds and achieve a top speed of 270 km/h. The BMW XM is equipped with an xDrive all-wheel drive system and a lithium-ion battery, providing an electric driving range of 82 to 88 km.
In terms of safety features, the BMW XM includes a simulated engine sound system to alert other road users, tire pressure warning, electronic stability control, collision sensors, cruise control system with braking function, active protection system, and parking assist with a 360-degree camera.
