As the Lunar New Year is approaching, car dealerships are in a race to offer attractive promotions that can entice customers. And among them are the Honda car dealerships.
One prominent example is the ongoing “deep” discount program for the Honda Accord at certain Honda dealerships in Ho Chi Minh City. These dealerships are currently selling the Honda Accord at an incredibly low price of 1.079 billion VND, which translates to a 240 million VND discount from the list price. It’s worth noting that these discounted Honda Accords have 2022 VIN numbers, and the stocks are limited.
According to the latest announcement from Honda Vietnam, the mid-size sedan Honda Accord is currently enjoying a 50% reduction in registration fees and 1 year of comprehensive insurance for the body. This special program is applicable to customers who sign a purchase contract and complete 100% payment procedures by January 31, 2024. With the starting price of 1.319 billion VND, this implies a registration fee reduction of 66 million VND for this model.
Despite having various registration fee reduction programs in 2023, the Honda Accord’s sales performance remained sluggish. In December 2023, the model only managed to sell 7 cars, experiencing a 30% decline. It stands as the sole mid-size D-segment sedan with decreasing sales in its category.
The cumulative sales figure for the Honda Accord throughout the entire year was extremely low, reaching a mere 58 cars. This figure firmly positions the Honda Accord among the top 10 least-selling cars in Vietnam in 2023.

Compared to its competitors in the same segment, the Honda Accord has some notable drawbacks, such as its high price and the availability of only one variant. Furthermore, being a completely imported vehicle, the Honda Accord does not benefit from the government’s policy of reducing registration fees in the second half of 2023.
However, the Honda Accord also possesses its own advantages, including a spacious interior and highly acclaimed driving experience within its segment. Under the hood, it is equipped with a 1.5L, 4-cylinder, turbocharged gasoline engine that generates a maximum power of 188 horsepower and a peak torque of 260 Nm. The engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) gearbox, which offers both Eco and Sport driving modes.
Additionally, the Honda Accord comes with active safety features similar to those found in its competitors, such as collision mitigation braking, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, automatic high beams, lane departure mitigation, and lane-keeping assist systems.
