The use of microLED technology in this display screen allows it to project images onto a transparent surface made of Swarovski crystals.

Continental and Swarovski Mobility unveiled a luxury car display screen at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. While Swarovski crystals are often used in cars to convey a sense of luxury, Continental has taken it to the next level with the introduction of the world’s first Crystal Center Display made entirely of this precious material.

The Crystal Center Display, which measures 10 inches, utilizes microLED technology to project images onto a transparent surface created by Swarovski crystals. MicroLED technology is a brand new technology which was just introduced at the CES exhibition in 2024. The self-illuminating pixels allow the screen, made of crystals, to appear transparent, creating a floating effect in mid-air. Additionally, this screen is brighter, clearer, and offers better contrast compared to other display technologies on the market.

Swarovski Mobility has utilized special grinding techniques to create the corners of the screen. Swarovski Mobility CEO Peter Widmann stated that this unique screen structure is designed to optimize durability and meet the “optics and technical challenges when used in cars”.

Both Continental and Swarovski Mobility suggest that this technology will provide car manufacturers with minimalist and visually striking display options that can be used to accentuate the interiors of luxurious cars. However, it remains uncertain whether any car manufacturers have expressed interest in implementing this technology in their vehicles.
