The last Chevrolet Camaro has rolled out of the company’s Michigan factory, marking the end of an era for one of America’s iconic muscle cars.
Chevrolet has officially confirmed the discontinuation of the Camaro, marking the end of an era for one of the most iconic sports cars of the 1970s and 1980s. The company announced that the last Camaro rolled off the assembly line at the Lansing, Michigan factory earlier this week.

Although Chevy has not revealed any specific details about the successor to the Camaro, this is not the end for the sports car as Global Vice President of Chevrolet, Scott Bell, hinted that the Camaro name will still be produced in the future, likely in the form of a plug-in hybrid or fully electric vehicle. “While we have not announced the immediate successor to the Camaro today, rest assured, this is not the end of the Camaro story,” said Scott Bell in an email sent to Road and Track.

This is the second time the Chevrolet Camaro has been discontinued. The muscle car was first introduced in 1966 and quickly became a formidable rival to the Ford Mustang. It went through 4 generations before being discontinued in 2002. In 2010, Chevy surprised everyone by bringing back the Camaro name and it underwent two major facelifts before unexpectedly being announced to cease production after 2024.

The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Collector’s Edition is a special edition that marks the end of a nearly 50-year lifespan for this muscle sports car. This edition is produced in limited quantities of only 350 units, featuring an exclusive Black Panther Matte finish combined with Black Panther metallic accents and a unique emblem inspired by the black panther, a symbol of power, speed, and mystery. Furthermore, the Black Panther project was the development name for the first-generation Chevrolet Camaro.
