Kia Sonet has recently launched an upgraded version of its mid-life cycle in the Indian market in December last year. These A-segment SUVs were priced and sold at dealerships at the beginning of this year.
In the Indian market, the 2024 Kia Sonet is offered in a total of 7 variants, which are HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+, GTX+ and X-Line. Among them, the standard HTE version starts at just 799,000 Rupee (approximately 235 million VND). Correspondingly, the equipment at this price point is relatively basic. The close-up video of the standard 2024 Kia Sonet at the dealership clearly showcases this.

Normally, the standard version of a vehicle would have a significantly different exterior design compared to the premium version. However, the standard 2024 Kia Sonet still retains a relatively sleek exterior design and does not feel overly cheap.
Specifically, this A-segment SUV standard version still features the distinct “tiger nose” grille, new LED daylight running lights and tail lights, which are inspired by the star map design similar to the premium version. Additionally, there is a prominent silver trim on the front and rear bumper, giving it a sporty look in the small urban SUV segment.
Of course, the standard 2024 Kia Sonet does lack some modern exterior features compared to the premium version. For instance, the car uses Halogen headlights instead of LED headlights and has power-adjusted rearview mirrors…
… as well as 15-inch steel rims with silver hubcaps. In contrast, the premium version of this model is equipped with 16-inch dual-tone diamond-cut alloy wheels.
In addition, this car also features Halogen turn signal and rear lights, along with a turn signal light located on the front fenders instead of integrated into the rearview mirror trim.
On the inside, the standard 2024 Kia Sonet only comes with black interior color and synthetic leather seats. To make the interior more appealing, Kia has added silver accents to various parts of the car, such as the air vent trim, steering wheel, and central control cluster.
In front of the driver, there is a 3-spoke power-adjustable steering wheel with integrated buttons…
… along with a 4.2-inch meter cluster.
Additionally, this car has USB Type C ports for both rows of seats and a 12V charging port.
The car’s air conditioning can be manually adjusted, and there are air vents for the rear seats. The rear windows are also manually adjusted instead of power-adjusted.
Of course, the most affordable 2024 Kia Sonet does not come with a touchscreen center display. Customers have the option to add an external 10.25-inch touchscreen to the car.
Moreover, the most affordable version of this A-segment SUV also lacks smart key and push-button start.
As for safety features, the standard 2024 Kia Sonet offers some basic features such as 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, BA, ESC, hill-start assist, rear parking sensors, and tire pressure monitoring.
Under the hood, the standard 2024 Kia Sonet is available with 2 engine options. The first one is a 1.2L naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder petrol engine that delivers a maximum power of 83 hp. This engine is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The second option is a 1.5L 4-cylinder diesel engine that generates a maximum power of 116 hp. It is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The introduction of the upgraded version is expected to boost the sales of the Kia Sonet in the Indian market. In December 2023, this model was overshadowed by its competitors such as the Tata Nexon, Tata Punch, Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, and Suzuki Fronx.
