Teen Girl Suffers a Horrifying Accident When Her Hair Gets Trapped in a Go-Kart Engine, Resulting in 80% Scalp Tearing.
According to The Sun, a 17-year-old girl named Heloisa Cristina Heliodoro from Brazil experienced a terrifying incident while go-karting with her boyfriend on his birthday. What started as a joyful celebration quickly turned into a nightmare for Heloisa.
Prior to the race, both Heloisa and her boyfriend were provided with the necessary protective gear. Unfortunately, Heloisa was not made aware of the potential dangers associated with having her long hair unrestrained. Tragically, during the heat of the race, her hair became entangled in the go-kart’s engine.
Elizabeth, Heloisa’s mother, described the extent of the injury, stating, “The force from the go-kart’s engine caused 80% of her scalp to be torn off.”
The situation worsened when immediate medical assistance was not readily available for Heloisa. It took approximately 30 minutes for her to be rescued and transported to the hospital, causing a significant delay in receiving critical treatment. As a result, her scalp damage was too severe to be repaired through stitching.
Heloisa currently awaits a skin graft surgery, with doctors warning that her recovery process will be lengthy, and there is a possibility that her hair may not grow back. Additionally, she may require psychological support to cope with the traumatic experience.
In response to the incident, the Brasilia Karting Company, the owner of the race track, has pledged full support to Heloisa throughout her ongoing treatment and recovery.
