The Haval Xiaolong Max: A Competitor in the D-size SUV Segment

The Haval Xiaolong Max is positioned in the D-size SUV segment, competing with the Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sorento, and Ford Everest.

The Intellectual Property Office has revealed that Haval has registered industrial design protection for the Xiaolong Max PHEV SUV model in the Vietnamese market. This means that after the successful launch of the Haval H6, the Xiaolong Max will be the next model to be distributed in Vietnam under the GWM automotive brand.

Unlike the H6 which is imported from Thailand, it is expected that the Xiaolong Max sold in Vietnam will be imported from the factory in Hebei, China. Moreover, it is highly likely that the name of the car will be shortened to Haval Max as it is called in other markets.

The Haval Xiaolong Max made its debut in China in May 2023. This mid-size SUV measures 4,785 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, 1,725 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,800 mm. In the Chinese market, it is available in three versions with prices ranging from 159,800 to 179,800 Chinese Yuan (equivalent to 536 – 603 million VND).

The Xiaolong Max offers a modern and luxurious interior space, featuring three 12.3-inch screens as its highlight. According to Haval, this SUV is equipped with the new generation Coffee OS operating system, powered by the Snapdragon 8155 chip.

The Haval Xiaolong Max is equipped with the Hi4 plug-in hybrid powertrain from GWM, consisting of a 1.5L petrol engine, two electric motors, and a 2-speed DHT transmission. This setup generates a total output of 279 horsepower and a maximum torque of 585 Nm. Additionally, there are two battery options available: 9.4 kWh or 19.27 kWh, providing a maximum pure electric driving range of 105 km per charge.
