As of January 1, 2024, the Government’s 50% registration fee reduction program for domestically manufactured and assembled cars has expired. However, there are still certain car models that are eligible for a 100% registration fee reduction as offered by the manufacturer to boost pre-Tet shopping. The Honda City is one such model.
According to a recent announcement by Honda Vietnam on January 2, 2024, the G and L versions of the City model will receive a 100% registration fee exemption. On the other hand, the RS version, which is the top-of-the-line variant, will be eligible for a 50% registration fee reduction. This incentive will be applied based on a 10% registration fee.
The Honda City is currently available in 3 versions: G, L, and RS, with corresponding prices of 559 million, 589 million, and 609 million VND. With the manufacturer’s registration fee exemption, customers who purchase the G and L versions can save between 56 – 59 million VND during the registration process. For the RS version, the corresponding amount is 30 million VND.
In addition to that, Honda Vietnam is also providing 1 year of body insurance for customers who purchase this B-segment sedan. The condition for this promotion is that customers must sign a vehicle purchase contract and complete 100% payment procedures between January 5 and January 31, 2024.
The Honda City currently stands as one of the most expensive B-segment sedans, trailing only behind the Volkswagen Virtus. Therefore, in the relatively sluggish Vietnamese car market, Honda Vietnam is consistently running promotional campaigns for this model to sustain sales.
In 2023, the City model continued to be the best-selling car in the Honda brand lineup. In November 2023, Honda sold 884 City units to Vietnamese customers, marking a 17.7% increase. Over the 11-month period of 2023, the Honda City achieved a sales volume of 8,391 units, securing the 3rd position in the B-segment sedan category, following the Hyundai Accent (14,700 units) and the Toyota Vios (10,499 units).
The Honda City boasts numerous competitive advantages, including a strong brand, sporty design, spacious interior, and a comprehensive range of safety features. Notably, the car is equipped with the standard Honda Sensing active safety system, which encompasses 6 features: Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Automatic High Beam (AHB), and Low-Speed Follow (LSF).
Furthermore, the car comes with LED headlights, power-adjustable/folding side mirrors with LED turn signals, 16-inch alloy wheels, leather seats/steering wheel, a 4.2-inch multi-information display, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8-speaker audio system, and automatic air conditioning.
Moreover, the Honda City is highly regarded by many for its remarkable driving experience. The 2023 Honda City retains the same engine, a 1.5L i-VTEC 4-cylinder petrol engine with DOHC, which delivers a maximum power of 119 horsepower at 6,600 rpm and a peak torque of 145 Nm at 4,300 rpm. The engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
