The Honda WR-V version available in the Japanese market is not the same as the second-generation WR-V currently being sold in Southeast Asian countries like Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia. The Japanese version of the car is completely imported from India, where it is known as the Honda Elevate. Japanese consumers who are interested in purchasing the new WR-V model will have to wait for a period of up to 8 months.
While waiting for the car, customers in Japan can take a look at the modified version of the Honda WR-V model showcased at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon exhibition. Named the WR-V Field Explorer Concept, this compact SUV has received upgrades in terms of appearance to give it a rugged and robust look, making it suitable for adventure and outdoor enthusiasts.
Following the “Ready Go Land” design concept, the modified WR-V features a new roof and grille with a prominent large HONDA logo. The standard 17-inch wheels have been replaced with smaller 15-inch wheels, which are fitted with off-road tires.
Despite its off-road inspired exterior enhancements, the WR-V Field Explorer Concept retains the same 1.5L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine that produces a maximum power output of 118 horsepower and 142 Nm of torque. It is paired with a CVT gearbox and front-wheel drive system (FWD).
In Japan, the 2024 Honda WR-V is available in three different versions, with prices ranging from 2 million yen ($13,240) to just under 2.5 million yen ($16,550).
