According to Creative311, customers in the Japanese market who pre-order the 2024 Honda WR-V, which is expected to be available from March 22, 2024, will have to wait a significant amount of time before they can receive the car. Creative311 describes this situation as a “perfect storm” for the WR-V.
However, there is some good news. Many customers who were initially considering purchasing the Toyota Raize and Daihatsu Rocky have now turned their attention to the Honda WR-V after both rival models were temporarily suspended due to Daihatsu’s safety scandal. This has contributed to the popularity of the WR-V.
The WR-V is priced competitively, ranging from 2 million yen ($13,240) to just under 2.5 million yen ($16,550), and offers a range of features and amenities including an electronic parking brake and the full Honda Sensing safety system.
It is worth noting that the 2024 Honda WR-V that will be launched in Japan is imported from India and is not related to the second-generation WR-V currently available in Southeast Asian markets. The Japanese version of the WR-V has a more boxy design and improved ground clearance.
The dimensions of the WR-V are as follows: length – 4,312 mm, width – 1,790 mm, height – 1,650 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,650 mm. Inside the cabin, the WR-V features scratch-resistant hard plastic, glossy black accents, and gray fabric seats. It offers ample rear passenger space and a spacious luggage capacity with a flat floor.
One interesting feature of the WR-V is the relatively smaller size of the infotainment screen on the dashboard compared to the 10.25-inch screen found in the Elevate model for the Indian market. Additionally, the WR-V will be equipped with various ADAS features as part of the Honda Sensing package.
The Honda WR-V/Elevate was developed at Honda’s Asia Pacific R&D Center in Thailand and is produced in Rajasthan, India. It shares the same platform as the Honda City and is powered by a naturally aspirated i-VTEC 1.5L gasoline engine that delivers a maximum output of 119 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque.
