Starting from January 1, 2024, the government’s 50% discount on vehicle registration fees for domestically produced and assembled cars has expired. However, Hyundai dealerships are still offering discounts on registration fees for their models to attract customers before the Lunar New Year. This includes a discount program for the Hyundai Custin model at select dealerships in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Bac Giang.
The discount program offers a 50% reduction in the registration fee for the Hyundai Custin, which comes in three versions: Standard, Special, and Premium, priced at 850 million, 945 million, and 999 million VND respectively. With the discount, customers can save anywhere from 42 to 50 million VND, depending on the version they choose.
To further entice customers, Hyundai dealerships are also providing additional discounts on the Custin model. This puts pressure on its direct competitor, the Toyota Innova Cross. Since its introduction to the Vietnamese market two months ago, the Hyundai Custin has consistently outsold the Toyota Innova Cross.
In October 2023, Hyundai Custin sold 324 units, compared to the Toyota Innova Cross which sold 143 units. In November 2023, Hyundai Custin’s sales grew by 63.2% to 529 units, surpassing the 162 units sold by the Toyota member.
The Hyundai Custin offers advantages over the Toyota Innova Cross in terms of size and equipment. It features LED lights, 17-18 inch wheels, power-sliding side doors/tailgate, power-adjustable front seats with heating and cooling, a 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 6 speakers, electronic parking brake, dual sunroof, sunshades for rear seats, automatic climate control, and air vents for all 3 rows.
In Vietnam, the Hyundai Custin is available with two engine options. The first option is a 2.0L Turbo GDi petrol engine with 236 horsepower and 353 Nm of torque. The second option is a 1.5L Turbo GDi engine with 170 horsepower and 253 Nm of torque. Both engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive (FWD).
In terms of safety features, the Hyundai Custin offers 6 airbags, a 360-degree panoramic camera, Blind-spot Collision Avoidance Assist (BCA), Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist (RCCA), Safe Exit Assist (SEA), Adaptive Headlights (AHB), Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Lane Following Assist (LFA), Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Smart Cruise Control (SCC), and Driver Attention Warning (DAW).
Overall, with its competitive pricing, generous discounts, and impressive features, the Hyundai Custin proves to be a strong contender in the Vietnamese market, putting pressure on its competitors, particularly the Toyota Innova Cross.
