Granstudio – a startup based in Switzerland recently launched a groundbreaking electric vehicle named Komma UMV. This model stands out with its unique combination of car-like structure and motorcycle-like compactness.
According to the manufacturer, the Komma UMV is 80% smaller than a conventional car, consumes 66% less energy, and reduces operating costs by 70%. Despite its compact size, the Komma UMV offers all the advantages of a car. It features a four-wheel chassis platform with a hydraulic tilt system, allowing for both stability and maneuverability in tight spaces akin to a motorcycle.
Similar to traditional cars, the Komma UMV is equipped with a drivetrain, suspension system, collision warning feature, and ABS anti-lock braking system. Additionally, it has doors, a trunk, seat belts, airbags, and passengers do not need to wear a helmet. Moreover, the Komma UMV provides storage space both in the front and rear, offering more storage capacity compared to the trunk of a motorcycle.
Due to its limited width and hydraulic tilt system, the Komma UMV is equipped with handlebars instead of a steering wheel typically found in cars. Furthermore, it does not have a passenger seat, but instead, provides a compact space behind the driver for a single passenger.
From a company perspective, the Komma UMV presents a transformative vision for urban environments, emphasizing the enhancement of public spaces’ quality and fostering community values. By reducing the dominance of cars, the Komma UMV paves the way for a more harmonious coexistence with nature, creating additional room for recreational activities, and fostering vibrant social interactions.
