R18 One Eight C is a custom motorcycle created by the legendary bike builder, Paul Yaffe. This unique bike is inspired by the iconic Mercury Lead Sled from the 1950s.
Renowned motorcycle designer, Paul Yaffe, has revealed his latest masterpiece – a custom build of the BMW R 18 Transcontinental. Named the R18 One Eight C, this bagger seamlessly combines the classic aesthetics of BMW with Yaffe’s distinct style. Yaffe dedicated months to studying the R 18 Transcontinental before embarking on the customization process. His goal was to create a one-of-a-kind bagger that captures the essence of BMW.
The R18 One Eight C’s design draws inspiration from the iconic Mercury Lead Sled of the 1950s. To set this custom build apart, Yaffe equipped it with a massive 26-inch by 5.5-inch front wheel. Crafted from a solid block of aluminum weighing 181 kg, the wheel exhibits exceptional craftsmanship. It features a specially cast front tire to complement its unique design.
To accommodate the oversized wheel, Yaffe extended and raked the bike’s frame while redesigning the front suspension for optimal handling. The bodywork of the R18 One Eight C is equally impressive. Yaffe and his team meticulously fabricated bespoke parts, including the steel front fender and chin spoiler. Additionally, the bike boasts a new handlebar setup, upgraded suspension, and exhaust system.
Completing the custom build is a sleek glossy black paint job paired with a vibrant red seat. Yaffe emphasized the bike’s clean lines, thus opting for a minimalistic paint job that enhances the overall design’s beauty.
The R18 One Eight C will make its official debut at the MBE Show in Verona, Italy.
