The Lexus LBX was recently introduced to Southeast Asian users at the Singapore Auto Show 2024.
The Lexus LBX, which has been introduced globally since June 2023, is developed based on Toyota’s TNGA-B platform, similar to the Yaris Cross available in Europe, Japan, and Singapore. As a result, this model is considered the luxury version of the Toyota Yaris Cross.
The Lexus LBX 2024 has dimensions of 4,190 x 1,825 x 1,560 (mm) for length, width, and height, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2,580 mm. These dimensions position the car between the A and B segment CUVs.
The LBX features a design that closely resembles the new generation of the Lexus RX. This is particularly evident in the front area of the car, with its honeycomb grille and hexagonal-shaped grille.
Compact headlight clusters with LED daytime running lights in the shape of an “L” – a characteristic of the Lexus brand – are located on both sides of the grille. These headlights clusters are connected by a glossy black strip, creating a border that separates the hood and the grille.
The side of the car is defined by strong cutting lines that expand at the wheel arches and narrow in the center, creating a widebody structure. The size of the wheels ranges from 17 to 18 inches, with various pattern options.
At the rear of the Lexus LBX, there is a LED taillight cluster in the shape of an “L” that spans the width of the trunk. Below this cluster of lights is a raised “Lexus” emblem. Similar to the front bumper, the rear bumper of the car also has vertical decorative slots, adorned with a chrome strip in the shape of an “L”.
Inside the cabin of the Lexus LBX 2024, there is a standout 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 9.8-inch infotainment screen. The car also offers an optional HUD display. Additionally, this small-sized CUV is equipped with a Mark Levinson 13-speaker audio system and a subwoofer. The Lexus LBX 2024 has a luggage capacity of 332 liters for the front-wheel-drive version, slightly lower for the AWD version due to the addition of a rear electric motor.
The Lexus LBX in the Southeast Asian market is equipped with a hybrid powertrain based on a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder gasoline engine with a combined output of 134 horsepower and a maximum torque of 185 Nm. It is paired with a continuously variable CVT transmission and offers the option of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. With this powertrain, the CUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.2 seconds and has a maximum towing capacity of 750 kg.
All versions of the Lexus LBX 2024 feature MacPherson front struts, while the rear suspension varies: torsion beam suspension for the FWD models and double wishbone suspension for the AWD models. The AWD version also includes an additional electric motor placed at the rear axle, although the power output of this version has not been announced yet.
In terms of safety equipment, the car comes equipped with a range of driving assist features, including emergency braking, lane keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, and Lexus Safety System+ driver assistance system.
