Undergoing frequent changes in ownership due to financial instability, Lotus, the former British car manufacturer, has had an interesting journey. In 1996, the British car manufacturer merged with Malaysia’s Proton, and after 21 years, China’s Geely group acquired both Proton and Lotus. Currently, the company’s electric car models are being developed and produced in Wuhan, China, including the Emeya, which was unveiled at the Guangzhou Auto Show in 2023.
Exciting news for car enthusiasts in China as the Lotus Emeya has officially launched in the country. The Lotus Emeya enters the Chinese market with 4 variants, available at prices ranging from 668,000 RMB to 1,180,000 RMB (93,750 – 165,600 USD) or 2.12 billion VND to 3.8 billion VND. This super sedan boasts a power output of up to 675 kW, a range of 650 km, and a luxurious 4-seater interior. Enthusiasts in Europe will have to wait until the second half of 2024 to get their hands on the Lotus Emeya.
The Lotus Emeya is a large, sporty sedan that catches the eye with its striking design. The front of the car features sleek two-tier daytime running lights and a sloping bonnet line. The headlights are situated on the front bumper of the Emeya, giving it a distinctive look. Other design elements include a low beltline, retractable door handles, and an elegant roofline.
Inside, the Lotus Emeya shares a horizontal layout with the Eletre SUV. A standout feature in the car is the large center screen with a diameter of 15.1 inches. The steering wheel of this super sedan has 4 spokes and a flat bottom, giving it a sporty feel. Behind the steering wheel, you’ll find paddle shifters and an ultra-thin instrument cluster with a 12.6 mm diameter. The front passengers also get to enjoy a 12.6-inch LCD “strip”.
Equipped with 34 sensors for driving assistance, including 4 LiDARs and 2 4D millimeter wave radars, the all-electric Lotus Emeya sedan supports intelligent highway driving and automatic parking.
When it comes to power, the fully electric Lotus Emeya sedan will feature dual motors, with a maximum output of 225 kilowatts (equivalent to 302 horsepower) for the front motor and a maximum output of 450 kilowatts (about 603 horsepower) for the rear motor. As per official information released earlier, the Lotus Emeya can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.78 seconds and reach a top speed of 256 km/h.
