The Mazda CX-70 was originally set to be unveiled in 2023 but was later pushed back to early 2024. Mazda’s official announcement for the CX-70 launch was posted on their Canadian website.

No specific details about the new SUV model were provided on Mazda Canada’s website, but during the investor presentation, the Japanese automaker confirmed that the CX-70 is a two-row version of the CX-90. Enthusiasts are hopeful that Mazda will give the CX-70 a slightly sportier design compared to its “big brother,” the CX-90.

Additionally, leaked sources suggest that the CX-70 will share its powertrain with the CX-90. This means that customers in the United States can expect two versions of Mazda’s 6-cylinder turbocharged engine with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. In the base CX-90 version, the engine delivers a maximum output of 280 horsepower and peak torque of 450 Nm, while the Turbo S version boasts a maximum output of 340 horsepower and torque of 500 Nm.

Furthermore, the CX-70 may also be available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, similar to the CX-90. This hybrid system combines a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine with an electric motor and a 17.8-kilowatt-hour battery pack, resulting in a combined output of 323 horsepower and a maximum torque of 500 Nm. All three versions of the CX-70 will come with standard all-wheel drive.

We will continue to provide updates with more information about this SUV model in upcoming articles.
