The results of the car license plate auction on January 5, 2024, revealed numerous winning bids, although only a few fetched billions of Vietnamese dong. The highest bid was for the license plate with the number 51L-222.22, selling for 5.36 billion dong between 9:30 and 10:00 AM on the same day.

In particular, the license plate with the number 51L-222.22, falling under the 51L code in Ho Chi Minh City, attracted a wealthy individual who made a hefty bidding, shelling out 5.36 billion dong.

The amount paid for the license plate 51L-222.22 was 200 million dong higher than the price of a BMW X7 and several hundred million to several billion dong higher than numerous luxury cars like the Mercedes-Benz S450, BMW Z4, and Lexus ES.

According to the regulations, the winner of the auction for the car license plate 30K-666.66 must pay the entire winning amount within 15 days from the date of the results announcement. This amount is deducted from the pre-deposited sum of 40 million dong but does not include vehicle registration fees.

Subsequently, within 12 months, the auction winner must register the license plate for their car. Failure to do so within the deadline will result in the transfer of the license plate into the registration and vehicle management system, with no refund for the paid amount.
