Honda introduced several impressive car models at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2024, and one of them instantly captured the interest of many Japanese users as it is set to transition into a commercial version soon.
The 2024 Honda Civic RS Prototype offers a sneak peek into the sportier edition of the Civic, boasting a bold design and a manual transmission. This version aims to bridge the gap between the standard Civic models and the Civic Type R.
The Civic RS is entirely dressed in black, accentuating its aggressive and captivating appearance. The standout feature of the exterior is the revamped front bumper with sleeker contours and slender air vents on both sides. Additionally, Honda has incorporated red RS badges on both ends of the car, creating a striking contrast against the black paint.
These tweaks to the exterior design give the Civic RS a resemblance to a more understated version of the Type R, while the rest of the body and the alloy wheels remain consistent with the standard Civic Hatchback.
Although the Honda Civic already offers a 6-speed manual transmission in the US market, Japanese buyers have thus far been limited to a CVT automatic transmission. However, this will change in the autumn of 2024, when the Civic RS with a manual transmission will be introduced to the Japanese market.
As of now, Honda has not officially disclosed the powertrain details of the 2024 Civic RS, but it is highly anticipated that the car will come equipped with a turbocharged 1.5L gasoline engine. Moreover, Honda has promised to make “further improvements to deliver a more exciting driving experience,” suggesting potential chassis modifications to complement its sportier appearance.
