Toyota to introduce 3 fresh SUV models, including a 7-seater variant of the Corolla Cross.

According to reliable sources, it has been revealed that the highly anticipated Toyota Corolla Cross will not only be limited to the Indian market but will also be exported to Southeast Asia. What makes this news even more exciting is the introduction of a 7-seat version, catering to the needs of larger families or those who simply require more space. With its remarkable features and capabilities, the Toyota Corolla Cross is set to make waves in both the Indian and Southeast Asian markets.

To capture a larger share of the Indian market, Toyota is planning to introduce three new car models within the next 18 months. One of these models is a compact SUV based on the Suzuki Fronx, which is expected to be launched in India this year. Rumors suggest that this model will be called the Toyota Taisor.

Next, Toyota is developing a new three-row SUV based on the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, currently sold in India. This model is likely to be launched in the Indian market in 2025.

Following that, Toyota will debut a new seven-seater SUV model based on the Toyota Corolla Cross. This model will be positioned higher than the new three-row version of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder was originally a rebadged version of the Suzuki Grand Vitara. In 2023, the joint venture Maruti Suzuki started developing a three-row version of the Grand Vitara. Hence, it is not surprising that the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder also has a similar version.

The three-row version of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder will be assembled by the joint venture Maruti Suzuki in India. The wheelbase of this model is expected to remain the same as the five-seater version. However, the rear overhang is anticipated to be extended to accommodate the third row of seats.

Upon its entry into the Indian market, the three-row version of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder will directly compete with models like the Hyundai Alcazar. The Alcazar is also a seven-seater variant derived from the Hyundai Creta.

As for the Toyota Corolla Cross, this compact SUV is not currently available in the Indian market. However, the Indian market will be the first to welcome the seven-seater version of the Toyota Corolla Cross.

The seven-seater Corolla Cross will be developed based on Toyota’s TNGA-C platform, similar to the Innova Hycross. Hence, unlike the Suzuki-based Toyota Taisor and Urban Cruiser Hyryder three-row version, the seven-seater Corolla Cross will not utilize Suzuki’s chassis.

Currently, Toyota plans to establish its third factory in India with an initial production capacity of 80,000 to 120,000 units per year, gradually increasing to 200,000 units. According to sources from the Indian media, this new factory will primarily focus on manufacturing the seven-seater version of the Corolla Cross.

Some sources suggest that the seven-seater Toyota Corolla Cross will not be limited to the Indian market. Instead, the car will be exported to international markets, such as Southeast Asia.

The introduction of these three new SUV models will broaden Toyota’s product lineup in the world’s third-largest automotive market. Additionally, rumors have emerged that Toyota will launch its first electric car in the Indian market by 2025. This electric vehicle will be jointly developed by Toyota and Maruti Suzuki for the Indian market.
