A bold experiment has been conducted to test the safety of the Zeekr 009 MPV model.

Zeekr 009 is a luxury electric MPV model owned by Geely Group – the same company that owns the Volvo brand. Geely introduced the Zeekr 009 as one of the world’s safest MPV models, equipped with 30 default driving assistance technologies. These technologies are achieved through the use of 12 short-range ultrasonic wave radars, one long-range radar, 4 panoramic 2MP cameras, and 7 HD 8MP cameras.

Moreover, the Zeekr 009 features a strong frame thanks to the utilization of advanced technology materials and a unique structure. The A-pillar is constructed with ultra-high-strength steel, which has a ratio of 71%, surpassing the industry’s highest level by 10%. The rear body frame is made of solid cast aluminum, providing a stiffness of up to 36,450 Nm/degree. This results in the Zeekr 009 being three times stiffer than conventional MPV models.

To demonstrate its capabilities, Zeekr conducted a test involving a concrete mixer truck. Measuring 10,380 x 2,500 x 3,998 (mm) and weighing approximately 30 tons, this type of truck is notoriously known as a “killer on the road” due to its high center of gravity and tendency to tip over during high-speed cornering.

In the test, the Zeekr 009 successfully withstood the impact of the concrete mixer truck. Apart from a crack in the windshield, the MPV model sustained minimal damage. The interior showed no signs of head, neck, or back impact. All doors could be opened and closed smoothly, and the A, B, and C pillars exhibited no bending, warping, or deformation. Additionally, the car’s suspension system remained functional even after enduring significant force.

The Zeekr 009 has also shown remarkable rigidity in real-life accident scenarios. In a collision that occurred in August 2023 between a Zeekr 009 and a tractor, the A-pillar demonstrated incredible strength, deforming the entire tractor trailer floor.

In the Chinese market, the Zeekr 009 competes in the luxury MPV segment against the Toyota Alphard. The model is priced between 499,000 – 588,000 Chinese yuan (approximately 1.53 – 2 billion VND).
