2023 was an eventful year for the car market. Despite heavy discounts from manufacturers and dealerships on many models, the purchasing power has not improved significantly and has decreased compared to 2022.

However, several SUV models still achieved impressive sales and maintained their high rankings. Here are the top 5 best-selling SUVs in 2023:

Mazda CX-5: 16,808 units

By the end of 2023, the Mazda CX-5 recorded sales of 16,808 units, an increase of 4,108 units compared to 2022. This model accounted for 2/3 of the total sales of the brand in the past year.

Compared to its competitors, the CX-5 stands out with its elegant and stylish design. Additionally, this model impresses with its luxurious and premium interior. The CX-5 is equipped with modern amenities, providing an exciting driving experience.

The Mazda CX-5 2023 is powered by two engine options.

The first is the SkyActiv-G 2.0L engine with 154 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 200 Nm at 4,000 rpm, a 6-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive. The vehicle features two driving modes: Normal and Sport.

The second is the Skyactiv-G 2.5L engine, which delivers a maximum power of 188 horsepower and a peak torque of 252 Nm, combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Recently, Thaco unexpectedly adjusted the selling price of this model, increasing it by 5 – 10 million VND (depending on the version). Currently, the CX-5 is available in 7 versions with prices ranging from 759 – 999 million VND.

Kia Sonet: 11,366 units

With its attractive price and youthful design, along with many outstanding features, the Kia Sonet successfully captured the hearts of Vietnamese consumers in the past year. By the end of 2023, this model achieved sales of 11,366 units, an increase of nearly 2,000 units compared to 2022.

The Sonet is currently assembled domestically in 4 versions, with prices ranging from 519 – 579 million VND.

The Kia Sonet 2023 is powered by a Smartstream 1.5L gasoline engine, producing a maximum power of 113 horsepower and a peak torque of 144 Nm. It is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or a Smartstream IVT continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Hyundai Creta: 10,719 units

Throughout 2023, Hyundai delivered 10,719 Creta units to customers. This result is lower than in 2022 by nearly 1,400 units, but still places this model among the top 5 best-selling SUVs in Vietnam in 2023.

The Creta is locally assembled by Hyundai Thanh Cong, with 3 versions (Standard, Special, and Premium), priced from 640 – 745 million VND.

All 4 versions of the Creta are powered by a 1.5L naturally aspirated gasoline engine, delivering 115 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and 144 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a front-wheel drive system and an iVT gearbox (intelligent variable transmission) developed by Hyundai.

Toyota Corolla Cross: 10,485 units

Although its performance has declined compared to 2022, the Toyota Corolla Cross still achieved good sales in 2023 with 10,485 units.

The Corolla Cross is highly regarded for its design. The vehicle features a modern and youthful style while still exuding the solid Toyota feel.

The Corolla Cross is currently assembled locally in 3 versions: 1.8G, 1.8V, and Hybrid, with prices ranging from 755 – 955 million VND.

The vehicle’s power comes from two engine options. The first is a 1.8L 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 138 horsepower and 172 Nm of torque.

The second option is a hybrid engine that combines a 1.8L 2ZR-FE 4-cylinder inline engine delivering a maximum power of 138 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and a torque of 172 Nm at 4,000 rpm, with an electric motor providing a maximum power of 53 horsepower and a torque of 163 Nm.

Both engines are paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Ford Everest: 9,960 units

With its muscular and rugged appearance, along with a range of modern amenities, the Ford Everest, as a large-size D-segment SUV, has always won the hearts of consumers.

This is evidenced by the sales of the Everest in 2023. Ford Vietnam sold a total of 9,960 units, making it the only 7-seater SUV to appear in the top 5 best-selling SUVs in Vietnam.

The Everest is currently available in 5 versions, priced from 1,099 – 1,499 billion VND.

The high-end and Wildtrak versions of the Ford Everest are powered by a 2.0L Bi-Turbo diesel engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, delivering a maximum power of 210 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque with a 4WD system.

The remaining versions of the Everest are equipped with a 2.0L Turbo diesel engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission, offering a power of 170 horsepower and 405 Nm of torque, promising fuel efficiency.
