In June, many B-segment sedans were offered with discounts worth tens of millions of VND. This is one of the car segments which saw the sharpest decline in sales, as the Toyota Vios, which was once the best-selling car of last year, has been struggling in the first few months of this year.

The new Toyota Vios 2023 is already being offered with incentives

After the first 5 months of the year, the Toyota Vios recorded sales of 3,476 units, not making it into the list of the top 10 best-selling cars in the overall market.

Since the launch of the facelifted version with some upgrades to the exterior and equipment at the beginning of May, sales of the Toyota Vios have not only not improved but also slightly declined compared to the sales achievement made in April.

Currently, customers who choose to buy the Toyota Vios in the G and E versions will be supported with a 50% vehicle registration fee waiver. With prices ranging from 479 million to 592 million VND, the incentive that the Japanese automaker offers for the Toyota Vios corresponds to a discount value of 24-36 million VND, depending on the version and registered location.

Meanwhile, by taking full advantage of the declining sales of its direct competitor, the Hyundai Accent has surged strongly to temporarily become the best-selling B-segment sedan in the Vietnamese market.

As of the end of May, the sales of the Hyundai Accent reached 5,913 units, with 4 consecutive months of this B-segment sedan maintaining regular sales of over 1,000 units per month.

Currently, the Hyundai Accent is being offered with a discount of 24-44 million VND, depending on the version. The largest discount of 44 million VND belongs to the Hyundai Accent Special Edition automatic version, helping reduce the selling price of this version to 501 million VND.

Being the second best-selling B-segment sedan in the Vietnamese market, the Honda City is expected to introduce the facelifted version in the first week of July.

According to many sales consultants, the remaining stock of the previous-generation Honda City at dealerships is relatively low, while the discount for these cars can reach up to 150% of the vehicle registration fee.

Large promotions for Japanese cars

The largest promotion in June in the B-segment sedan segment belongs to the Nissan Almera. According to research, the B-segment sedan from the Japanese brand is being offered with a cash incentive of 70 million VND for both the CVT and premium CVT versions.

After the discount, the selling price of the Nissan Almera is currently at 469 million VND for the CVT version and 525 million VND for the premium CVT version.

For the Mitsubishi Attrage, the incentive in June for this sedan model is a maximum of 100% vehicle registration fee waiver, along with physical damage insurance and preferential interest rates for auto loans.

The highest incentive is applied to the group of Attrage cars manufactured in 2022, with a discount value equivalent to 38-49 million VND, depending on the version and registered location. For Mitsubishi Attrage cars with 2023 VIN numbers, a 50% vehicle registration fee waiver is offered for the MT and AT Premium versions, which is valued at 19-24.5 million VND.

Following the price adjustment by Thaco, the variants of Mazda2 sedans now have prices ranging from 415 million to 509 million VND. This adjustment puts the selling price of the Standard version of the Mazda2 sedan closer to the listed prices of A-segment cars in the Vietnamese market, such as the Hyundai Grand i10 (435-455 million VND for automatic versions), the Kia Morning (414-454 million VND), and slightly higher than the Toyota Wigo with a listed price of 405 million VND for the G version.

In the Vietnamese market, the Mazda2 also has a Sport variant with a hatchback body style. Currently, this variant of the Mazda2 only has the 1.5L Luxury version, with a selling price of 512 million VND after the adjustment, a decrease of 62 million VND compared to the beginning of the year.

Similar to the Mazda2 models, the Kia Soluto has also undergone price adjustments, with a decrease of at least 7 million VND and a maximum of 23 million VND. After the adjustment, the Kia Soluto now has prices ranging from 386 million to 482 million VND, depending on the version.

After the first 5 months of the year, the Suzuki Ciaz is currently the slowest-selling B-segment sedan with sales of 14 units, equivalent to an average consumption of nearly 3 units per month.
