All-new Mitsubishi Triton 2024 launched in Philippines starting at $20,111

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines has recently introduced its latest model, the 2024 Triton - a new vehicle that will compete in the highly competitive pickup truck segment in the Philippines market. This is the sixth generation model of the Triton/L200/Strada series and it is the first completely redesigned model in 8 years.

The new Mitsubishi Triton is longer and wider than the previous generation. Depending on the variant, the Triton has an overall length of 5,265-5,360 mm, a width of 1,865-1,930 mm, and a height of 1,775-1,815 mm. On the other hand, the wheelbase has been extended from 3,000 mm to 3,130 mm to provide better stability, improved cabin space, and overall driving comfort. The minimum ground clearance starts at 203 mm for the GL M/T base variant, while the remaining variants have 222 mm.

Reinforced by a new platform, Mitsubishi has made the frame of the truck thicker, stronger, more rigid, and lighter than its predecessor. The lighter frame helps the Triton have a weight ranging from 1,805 to 2,035 kg, depending on the variant.

In terms of design, Mitsubishi calls the new Triton’s design “Beast Mode,” aiming to give the pickup truck a more rugged and powerful look. The overall design of the truck appears more squared-off, while the front fascia showcases the evolution of the Dynamic Shield design language, using split LED headlights and daytime running lights. It’s worth noting that the new Triton’s fresh look has been awarded the 2023 Japan Good Design Award, along with the XForce and Delica Mini.

Meanwhile, the range-topping Athlete variant stands out with its orange accents. The orange color can be found on the leather seats and stitching, creating unique highlights that blend harmoniously with the black interior. In terms of design, the Triton’s all-new cabin looks more bold and boxy than ever.

The truck is equipped with a 7-inch instrument cluster and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment display, supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto connectivity. For the first time, the Triton features a 360-degree camera on the infotainment display for both the GLS and Athlete variants to have better maneuverability and monitoring in tight spaces and during parking.

Depending on the variants, the truck will receive features such as rear air vents, power-adjustable driver’s seat, wireless phone charging, dual-zone automatic climate control, USB Type A and Type C ports, cruise control, and a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel.

The 2024 Triton is offered with two turbocharged diesel engine options – a single-turbo version producing 183 PS and 430 Nm of torque, while the range-topping twin-turbo version gets a power boost to 204 PS and 470 Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 6-speed automatic and a manual gearbox.

The range-topping Athlete variant comes with 7 driving modes, an electric power-assisted steering system dedicated to the variant, and the 4WD Super Select II system, allowing for quick mode switching from 2H to 4H.

In terms of safety, the all-new Triton is equipped with standard airbags for the driver, front passenger, and driver’s knee, while side airbags and curtain airbags are available on the Athlete variant. Other standard safety features include ABS and EBD, Brake Assist, Mitsubishi’s Active Stability and Traction Control (M-ASTC), Hill Start Assist, Trailer Stability Assist, Emergency Stop Signal, and ISOFIX child seat anchorage points.

The range-topping Athlete variant also gets advanced safety features such as Hill Descent Control, Emergency Stop Power Supply, Forward Collision Mitigation, Blind Spot Warning with Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, and Auto High Beam.

The 2024 Mitsubishi Triton is available in the Philippines with 7 variants, starting at 1,134,000 PHP (equivalent to 20,111 USD).
