VinFast is hoping that the small-sized VF 3 that the company introduced at CES this month will help the Vietnamese brand establish its position in the US.
Initially, VinFast had no plans to sell the VF 3 in North America. In an interview with Yahoo! Finance at CES 2024, VinFast Chairman of the Board, Le Thi Thu Thuy, said, “All market research shows that American consumers prefer larger models,” which is why the company introduced the VF 8 model in the US first.
However, VinFast dealers in the US believe that the VF 3 has the potential to sell very well in this market. After the small-sized SUV was displayed at dealerships in September, the Vietnamese automaker decided to develop the VF 3 for the US market as well.
The main reason why dealers trust that the VF 3 will sell well in the US is its attractive price. VinFast has hinted that it could be sold in the US for less than $20,000, before considering tax incentives of up to $7,500. This could potentially be the cheapest electric car available in the US.
Leadership at VinFast announced that the VF 3 will be launched in the US in early 2025, along with a range of larger models, potentially including a production version of the VF Wild pickup truck concept that was also showcased at CES.

The VF 3 belongs to the Mini car segment. The car has an overall length of about 3,114 mm, with a 2-door side design, 1 rear trunk door, and enough interior space for 5 people. The compact body is made agile and robust thanks to the 16-inch alloy wheels, providing ample ground clearance for easy movement on various terrains.
