As the Lunar New Year approaches, many dealerships are offering the Ford Explorer, a mid-size SUV, with a record discount of up to 440 million VND.
After the discount, the price of the car is only 1,999 billion VND. This is probably the lowest price of the Ford Explorer since its launch.
However, this discount only applies to 2022 production cars, so there are not many of them. In general, these used cars have few differences compared to the cars with 2023 VIN. The only differences are the absence of three features: self-sealing tires (replaced with regular tires), hands-free liftgate, and rear seat air conditioning adjustment.
Not only the Ford Explorer, but also the Volkswagen Teramont, a rival in the same segment, is being discounted by up to 400 million VND this January. The price of the car after the discount is only 2,099 billion VND.
The pressure from the proposed retail price of the newcomer, the Hyundai Palisade (1,469 billion VND), has forced most SUVs in the mid-size E segment to offer significant discounts to enhance competitiveness.
The Ford Explorer currently being sold in Vietnam is the latest generation, imported completely built-up (CBU) from the US.
In the sixth generation, the Ford Explorer is developed on a new unibody platform, reducing the weight of the car by up to 90 kg compared to its predecessor. This also gives the SUV a more imposing and spacious design with 7 seats.
The dimensions of the car are 5,049 x 2,004 x 1,778 (mm) in length, width, and height, respectively.
Inside the cabin, the Ford Explorer is equipped with a luxurious steering wheel, an 8-inch touchscreen integrated with SYNC 3.4, and a 6.5-inch digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel. In addition, two 8-inch entertainment screens in the rear seats also support independent content viewing.
Furthermore, the car is also equipped with various modern amenities such as electronic parking brake, premium B&O 12-speaker audio system, wireless charging and USB Type-C ports, and a 3-zone air conditioning with high-quality filters.
Powering the Ford Explorer is a 2.3L EcoBoost gasoline engine producing 301 horsepower and 431.5 Nm of torque, combined with a 10-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive system.
In terms of safety features, the Ford Explorer is equipped with the Co-Pilot 360 driver assistance package, which includes advanced features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping and Lane Departure Warning, Automatic Headlights, Blind Spot Warning, Cross Traffic Alert, Collision Warning and Emergency Braking, 8 airbags, 360-degree camera, rear camera with self-cleaning function, and Collision Avoidance Steering Assist using radar and ultrasonic sensors to detect objects on the road.
