The fifth generation Hyundai Santa Fe has created a buzz in the global market with its all-new design. Despite mixed opinions, this midsize crossover is expected to maintain its position as the “king of the segment” in Vietnam, as it has in recent years.

Recently, Hyundai Motor Philippines showcased the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe and announced plans to launch it in the first quarter of this year. The Philippines is the first country in Southeast Asia to introduce the all-new Santa Fe, with the first two vehicles featuring eye-catching orange and green exterior colors.

The 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe was first introduced to the global market in July 2023, featuring a boxy design that replaces the previous rounded shape. This new style is reminiscent of the Land Rover Defender and aims to provide users with a more practical SUV.

The standout feature of the new Santa Fe is its “H-shaped” LED headlights, accompanied by air vents and a square-shaped grille. The grille also includes an additional horizontal LED strip that connects to the lighting cluster.

With specific dimensions of 4,830mm in length, 1,900mm in width, 1,720mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,815mm, the Santa Fe 2024 is 45mm longer, 20mm taller, and has a 50mm longer wheelbase compared to its predecessor. The muscular body is achieved through wider wheel arches and bulging fenders.

The rear of the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe has been a subject of controversy, with some finding it too simplistic and not in line with the vehicle’s boxy design. The LED taillights feature an “H” interface similar to the lighting cluster, but the rear bumper is completely flat without air vents.

Following the trend of many current models, the new generation Santa Fe simplifies the interior space. The air conditioning vents are horizontally integrated into the dashboard, creating a spacious cabin. Physical buttons have been reduced and integrated into a 6.6-inch touchscreen in the center. The gear lever has been moved to the steering column, creating two additional wireless charging spots for phones.

The center armrest can even be opened from the second-row passenger position. The storage compartment on the passenger side of the front row is equipped with a UV-C device to sanitize items. Other notable features of this midsize crossover include a 12-speaker Bose audio system, dual sunroof, digital rearview mirror, and the Hyundai SmartSense safety package.

The 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe is predicted to have two engine options in the Philippines. The first is a turbocharged Smartstream 4-cylinder gasoline engine with a capacity of 2.5 liters, producing a maximum power of 277 horsepower and 422 Nm of torque. It is paired with an 8-speed wet dual-clutch transmission and HTRAC AWD.

The second option is a hybrid powertrain that combines a 1.6L turbocharged Smartstream engine generating 178 horsepower and 265 Nm with a powerful 64 horsepower/264 Nm electric motor, resulting in a total output of 232 horsepower and 367 Nm of torque.

There is currently no specific information about the price of the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe in the Philippines, but it may increase due to the addition of new features.

In Vietnam, the Hyundai Santa Fe is the most popular 7-seater SUV and competes against formidable rivals such as the Kia Sorento, Ford Everest, and Toyota Fortuner. The current generation is available in 5 different variants and offers 3 engine options, with prices ranging from 1,029-1,369 billion VND.
