Under the management of SAIC Motor, headquartered in Shanghai, the revival of MG Motors is gaining momentum with a remarkable increase in sales in many markets. One of MG’s best-selling products, the mid-size electric SUV Marvel R, is about to be replaced by recently released patent images that show a completely new look for the eHS.

MG’s marketing department is particularly focused on conveying the British design DNA of its heritage into its product lineup. Ambitious but sadly lacking in identity with a product that could almost belong to any car manufacturer – simply a too generic design. However, that’s not all bad news as the eHS takes cues from the upcoming sharp and balanced MG3 hatchback.

The front of the car showcases a shark-nose design with a prominent lower grille and slim LED Matrix headlights. The body features clamshell-style doors, integrated side cameras, and Tucson-like shaped windows. At the rear, the connected taillights come with chrome details, and on the right side is the electric charging port.

According to sources, the next generation could switch to a Modular Scalable Platform (MSP). Unlike its predecessor, the eHS will be produced with right-hand drive due to MG’s demand in markets such as Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. The MSP platform is optimized for single engine config, rear-wheel drive, and dual engine, four-wheel drive.

Although there are no interior images, it is predicted that the eHS will feature a higher-quality 5-seat cabin with a 10.25-inch floating digital touchscreen combined with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with the ‘MG Pilot’ active driver assistance system.

The eHS will improve upon the current Marvel R’s powertrain options, to reference, including a rear-wheel drive variant with 178 horsepower and 410Nm of torque and a performance variant with 288 horsepower and 665N. The battery module size and charging capabilities are still unknown. However, we know that the new platform may accommodate a battery capacity of up to 150kWh – more than twice the size of the 70kWh pack in the current MG Marvel R, suitable for a WLTP range of up to 370km.

Set to create a competitive position in the electric SUV market, the eHS will compete with rivals such as Ford’s Mustang Mach-E, Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV5, Toyota BZ4X, Nissan Ariya, Volkswagen ID.4…

It is highly likely that MG will introduce the eHS in the coming months while production for right-hand drive will start in 2025.
