The Porsche Macan EV 2024 is the first electric SUV from the German automaker, built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) that it shares with the Audi Q6 e-Tron.
Porsche has officially launched its first-ever fully electric SUV – the Macan EV 2024. The Macan EV is the first model in Porsche’s lineup to undergo the transition from internal combustion to full electric power.
The Macan EV has two versions: the Macan 4 with a starting price of $78,800 (~1.93 billion VND), not including the $1,650 (~40 million VND) transportation fee, and the Macan Turbo with a starting price of $105,300 (~2.6 billion VND), also not including the transportation fee.
In terms of design, the 2024 Macan EV looks very similar to the remaining models in the Porsche family. However, the vehicle uses Porsche’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE) and shares its dimensions with the Audi Q6 e-Tron, so it has been upgraded.
In terms of size, the Porsche Macan EV 2024 is longer by 58 mm, taller by 76.2 mm, and wider by 224 mm compared to the internal combustion version of the Macan.
The 2024 Porsche Macan EV features a sloping roofline like a coupe to improve aerodynamics – with a retractable spoiler that can be deployed at the rear door and open at high speeds. The large clamshell bonnet has been replaced by a more conventional one with sealed edges running from the headlamp top to the A-pillar, instead of along the edge of the front wing.
The front of the car does not have a radiator grille. Notably, it features new rectangular headlights with matrix LED technology. The vehicle is equipped with 22-inch wheels.
At the rear, the 2024 Porsche Macan EV is equipped with a full-width taillight that stretches across the width of the vehicle. The rear bumper is covered in black plastic that simulates a diffuser.
The new Macan EV has a more spacious interior, providing more comfortable seating for passengers. Additionally, the luggage compartment has also been increased compared to the internal combustion version.
Porsche is pushing the technology envelope further with the Macan EV. For example, the 2024 Porsche Macan EV has three different screens on the dashboard, including a 12.6-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.9-inch touchscreen in the center, and a 10.9-inch entertainment screen for front passengers.
The driver information display can also be equipped with augmented reality technology. It displays guidance by superimposing images in front of the driver at a distance of 10 meters, corresponding to the size of an 87-inch screen. The vehicle also integrates both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay into the augmented reality display.
In comparison to the original Macan, the seating position on this electric version has been lowered by 28 mm, and rear passengers sit 15 mm lower.
Both versions of the Macan feature dual synchronous motors, each with a one-speed gearbox. The front motor is supplied by Bosch, while the rear motor is produced by Porsche at its manufacturing facility in Zuffenhausen, Germany.
Both Macan EV versions are equipped with all-wheel drive thanks to the electric motors placed on each axle. The integrated battery management system allows for DC charging of up to 270 kW. The vehicle can charge from 10-80% in just 21 minutes.
The Macan EV is currently available in two versions: the Macan 4 and the Macan Turbo, with more versions to be added in the future. The Macan 4 has a power output of 402 horsepower and a torque of 648 Nm. The vehicle can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 219 km/h.
On the other hand, the Macan Turbo has a maximum power output of 630 horsepower and a maximum torque of 1,128 Nm. With this impressive power, the vehicle can accelerate from 0-96 km/h in just 3.1 seconds, and reach a top speed of 259 km/h. This result of the Macan Turbo is faster than the 911 GT3, which has a power output of 502 horsepower. Both versions have a claimed range of 483 km per charge.
The Macan EV is equipped with the Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) system and a rear limited-slip differential to ensure smooth handling.
The Macan Turbo version is equipped with an upgraded Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) system, which allows the rear motor to act as a virtual rear differential lock.
Both versions feature four-wheel steering, allowing the rear wheels to turn up to 5 degrees both to the left and right to increase stability at high speeds and agility at low speeds. Additionally, both versions come standard with an air suspension system.
