The Porsche Taycan has been in production since 2019. After a considerable period without any significant upgrades, Porsche has now officially released a mid-life refresh for the Taycan with a more powerful engine, more technology, and improved performance.
For the 2025 edition, the Taycan will be exclusively offered with sedan and Cross Turismo variants in North America, as Porsche has discontinued the Sport Turismo version.
As expected from a Porsche, which always focuses on powerful performance, each model in the 2025 Taycan lineup accelerates faster than its predecessor. The base model with rear-wheel drive takes just 4.5 seconds to accelerate from 0-60 mph, which is 0.6 seconds faster than the previous version.
Of course, the base model is not the fastest in the lineup. That title goes to the Taycan Turbo S, which can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 2.3 seconds. This makes the Taycan Turbo S not only the fastest Taycan but also the fastest commercial production car ever made by Porsche.
It comes as no surprise that the Taycan Turbo S is now the most powerful commercial production car Porsche has ever made. The 2025 Turbo S model boasts a total output of up to 939 horsepower when using launch control.
Porsche has announced that they are working on improving the engines in all Taycan models, and the rear-wheel-drive configuration will produce even higher power, up to an additional 107 horsepower. Furthermore, models equipped with the Sport Chrono package will have a ‘push to pass’ button that temporarily boosts the power by up to 94 horsepower for a maximum of 10 seconds.
But Porsche doesn’t just focus on straight-line speed. Each 2025 Taycan model will be equipped with adaptive air suspension and optional Porsche Active Ride suspension for all-wheel-drive models.
In addition, all versions of the 2025 Taycan will come with newly designed wheels to improve aerodynamics and tires designed to reduce rolling resistance. When decelerating to enter a turn, the Taycan can recover energy at speeds of up to 400 kW, which is 30% faster than the previous version. Porsche claims the Taycan can charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes.
In terms of design, the 2025 Taycan gets upgraded headlights and taillights. Up front, the lighting system will feature HD Matrix design. At the rear, the Porsche logo is integrated into the 3D-shaped taillight strip. The 2025 Taycan will also come with new exterior paint color options, and the Turbo and Turbo S models will have exclusive Turbonite accents to differentiate them from the rest of the lineup.
Inside the cabin, the 2025 Taycan features a new screen with an optimized interface and a stalk behind the steering wheel for easier use of driving assistance technologies. Apple CarPlay has been integrated into the infotainment system, and new video streaming capabilities allow content to be played on the central and optional passenger screens.
Another notable highlight of the 2025 Taycan is the availability of two interior options that do not use leather, namely Black or Black/Gray.
The 2025 Taycan is expected to be available at dealerships in the United States from summer 2024, with prices starting from $101,395 (including destination charges).
