After more than 5 years since the launch of the first-generation Taycan, Porsche has recently announced an upgrade for this luxury electric car.
In the new version, the Porsche Taycan has been refined in terms of design, upgraded in terms of the engine, and improved in terms of performance to maintain competitiveness with rivals from BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi.
Porsche has always focused on maximizing performance and each new version of the Taycan model accelerates faster than before. The base version, which uses rear-wheel drive, only takes 4.5 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 96 km/h, 0.6 seconds faster than its predecessor.
Moreover, the Taycan 2024 Turbo S has become the fastest and most powerful commercial car ever produced by Porsche. This version is equipped with an engine block that produces up to 939 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 96 km/h in just 2.3 seconds.
Porsche has stated that the company is striving to improve the engine on all versions of the 2024 Taycan, and the rear-wheel drive system will generate higher power than the current version, up to 107 horsepower. In addition, vehicles equipped with the Sport Chrono package will have a “push to pass” button that allows the driver to temporarily increase the power by up to 94 horsepower for a maximum of 10 seconds.
But Porsche’s focus is not only on straight line speed. The 2024 Taycan is equipped with standard adaptive air suspension. Meanwhile, the premium Porsche Active Ride suspension system is optionally available on all-wheel-drive models. Furthermore, the car’s aerodynamics have been improved thanks to the newly designed wheels and tires that reduce rolling resistance.
The 2024 Taycan is also equipped with a larger battery pack, with a capacity of 105 kWh instead of the current 93 kWh. Porsche has not yet revealed the official EPA range, but based on internal testing results, the company claims that the 2024 Taycan has a maximum range of up to 587 km, an increase of 191 km compared to the official EPA range of the previous version.
Furthermore, the 2024 Taycan will be equipped with standard lane change assist, heated steering wheel, surround lighting system, electronically folding rearview mirrors with puddle lights, new cooling system, intelligent range management, smartphone storage tray, wireless charging for devices, etc.
The exterior design of the 2024 Taycan has also been updated with new taillights and headlights. At the front, the lighting system features HD-Matrix technology with optical details. In addition, the highlight at the rear is the Porsche logo, which can light up thanks to LED bulbs. The 2024 Taycan will also have new color options, and Turbo and Turbo S models will have exclusive Porsche Turbonite accents to differentiate them from other models in the lineup.
Inside, the electric car has a new screen with an optimized user interface and a touch panel behind the steering wheel, making it more intuitive to use driver assistance technologies. Apple CarPlay is more deeply integrated into the infotainment system, and the new video function in the car allows for online streaming on the central and optional passenger screens.
In addition, the car is also equipped with two new non-leather interior options. Furthermore, customers can replace the leather upholstery with other materials such as Race-Tex and Pepita pattern fabric.
The Porsche Taycan 2024 will be available at dealerships in the US in the summer of this year, with prices ranging from $99,400 to $211,700 (equivalent to 2.43 – 5.1 billion VND).
