According to sales advice, the upcoming BMW 5-Series model for the Vietnamese market is expected to be introduced in the second half of this year.

The car will be available in the form of domestic assembly, similar to the current generation. However, Thaco, the BMW distributor in Vietnam, has not yet confirmed this.

Aside from the traditional combustion engine-powered BMW 5-Series, BMW also offers a pure electric version called the BMW i5.

In terms of design, the BMW i5 and the gasoline-powered 5-Series models share the same exterior and interior, with the only differences being the grilles and engines. Both variants are developed on BMW’s CLAR platform.

The new generation BMW 5-Series has significantly grown in size. The car’s length has increased by 86.4mm to 5,060mm, with the wheelbase accounting for 2,995mm, a 20mm increase.

The design of the 2024 BMW 5-Series has been refined compared to the previous generation. The car features a powerful exterior, with bold cut and crease lines. The headlights and grille have also undergone significant upgrades.

While the exterior changes are relatively subtle, BMW engineers have completely refreshed the interior of the 5-Series and the i5 2024 models. They now offer a large dual-screen display, the intelligent BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, and the latest iDrive 8.5 operating system.

In addition, the cars come with premium features such as gesture control, voice command, a panoramic sunroof, and a compact gear lever to replace the traditional shifter.

Moreover, the new generation 5-Series offers users an exciting feature to play games in the car while it is parked, such as during battery recharging.

i5 users will also have the option to use the highly responsive touch-sensitive Interaction Bar, similar to the one found in the 7-Series. This control bar runs along the dashboard and can be used to adjust the air conditioning. This feature is optional for gasoline-powered 5-Series models.

The 5-Series will come in multiple versions and engine configurations. In the US, the standard 520i model will be equipped with a 2.0L engine producing 188 horsepower and 310 Nm of torque. The European version, 520i, will feature a 2.0L mild hybrid engine generating 205 horsepower and 330 Nm of torque.

On the other hand, the 530i will come with a 2.0L mild hybrid engine producing 255 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. The pure electric i5 will be equipped with a single engine generating 335 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque.

According to the company, the i5 and the 2024 5-Series are the first cars in the world to feature an active lane change support system that integrates eye confirmation.

The car can suggest lane changes, and the driver can confirm them by looking at the exterior mirror. When traffic conditions allow, the active lane change support system can automatically perform lane change steering movements.

Additionally, the latest 5-Series is equipped with a parking assist feature with automatic reversing assistance. When the professional parking assist mode is activated, automatic parking operations up to 200 meters can be controlled from inside the car or by using a smartphone from outside the car.
