The Vehicle Registration Office website has posted information regarding a recall of a total of 255 Toyota Raize cars produced in Vietnam between December 15, 2022 and January 7. The reason for the recall is related to the airbag control module.

The Vehicle Registration Office has stated that there may be a potential short circuit inside the capacitor of the airbag control module circuit board in the 255 recalled Raize vehicles. In the event of a short circuit, the airbag and emergency tensioning device may not function as intended, which could affect the safety of the driver and passengers in case of a collision.

In light of the recall, the Vehicle Registration Office has advised owners of affected Toyota Raize vehicles to bring their cars to Toyota dealerships nationwide for a free replacement of the airbag control module.

The estimated time required to inspect and address the issue in each Toyota Raize vehicle is approximately 40 minutes. The recall for the Toyota Raize will begin on June 30 and is scheduled to conclude on June 30, 2026.

Recently, Toyota Indonesia also initiated a recall for the Avanza, Veloz, and Raize models produced from December 2022 to January 2026 due to a similar issue.

In 2022, the Toyota Raize, a small urban SUV model, was previously recalled due to a front suspension tower assembly welding problem that could potentially lead to collapse.

As of the first five months of this year, 2,629 units of the Toyota Raize were sold in Vietnam. However, the Toyota A-segment SUV appears to be losing ground to its direct competitor, the Kia Sonet (which sold 3,476 units during the same period), and may face additional competition from the VinFast VF 5 Plus model.
