According to some sources, Czech Republic automaker Skoda is preparing to develop a new SUV model that will be positioned in the same segment as the Kia Sonet and Toyota Raize. The car is expected to be launched early next year.
Currently, the company has not revealed much information about the new SUV. It is known that this model will have a high level of localization, so the price of the car is expected to be reduced.
It is known that the new A-segment SUV will make use of components and parts such as seats, suspension systems, entertainment systems, and control devices from another smaller SUV model called the Kushaq.
It is expected that the new car will be equipped with either a 1.0L TSI engine or a 1.5L TSI engine (petrol, turbocharged). The 1.0L version is more likely, but the 1.5L version is expected to be more popular.
In addition to being sold in the Indian market, this new A-segment SUV could also be introduced globally and possibly in Vietnam, as the A-segment SUV segment is quite hot.
Currently, Skoda has an assembly plant in Vietnam. However, there are currently no plans for local assembly of any models from the company in Vietnam.
