Toyota Vietnam has announced that the Avanza Premio MT model has been confirmed to meet safety and environmental standards by independent certification agencies abroad.

Earlier, on December 20, 2023, in Japan, Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. held a press conference to announce anomalies in the company’s vehicle certification procedures. According to the investigation results from a third-party independent committee and the official statement from Toyota globally, Vietnam has one affected model, which is the Avanza Premio MT.

Specifically, there is one improper modification on the Avanza Premio MT during the overseas exhaust emission and fuel consumption tests. However, this modification does not affect the safety and quality of the vehicle. In addition, all Avanza Premio MT models in Vietnam comply with testing regulations and are certified to meet Vietnamese standards. Therefore, customers can confidently use the vehicle.

Despite that, Toyota Vietnam proactively suspends the delivery of Avanza Premio MT models to dealerships from December 21, 2023, to wait for instructions from Toyota Corporation, as the certification of this model overseas is being reviewed by independent inspection and certification agencies.

After receiving instructions from Toyota Corporation and reporting to the management authorities in Vietnam, Toyota Vietnam will resume the delivery of Avanza Premio MT vehicles to dealerships starting from January 26, 2024.
