During the launch event of the new luxury SUV Century last year, Toyota introduced the TaylorMade ordering system for this vehicle line. Customers can now personalize their Century with unique features such as reverse-opening doors reminiscent of Rolls-Royce, sliding side doors similar to MPVs, or even opt for a convertible version.
To demonstrate the capabilities of the TaylorMade system, Toyota revealed a convertible version of the Century at the Grand Sumo Tournament in Japan. This bespoke convertible SUV was specially made for a retired sumo wrestler, who plans to use it as a parade car for future sumo tournaments.

From the close-up images and videos, it is evident that the Toyota Century Convertible retains the lower body design of the hardtop version. Painted in an elegant white color with a stylish cream interior, this 4-door convertible is equipped with large chrome-plated alloy wheels.

In addition to the removal of the rigid roof, this Toyota Century Convertible offers an enhanced interior space to serve its purpose as a parade car. The spacious cabin comfortably accommodates sumo wrestlers, while the body and suspension have been reinforced to support the weight of the passengers.

The rear passengers enjoy ample legroom in the interior of this Toyota Century Convertible. The rear seats have been extended and raised to allow sumo wrestlers to observe the fans outside the car.

Currently, there is limited information available regarding the specific features of this Toyota Century Convertible. However, it is expected to retain most of the features found in the hardtop version.
Known as the “Rolls-Royce Cullinan of Japan,” the luxury SUV offers notable equipment such as front and rear LED lights, 20-22-inch wheels, a digital dashboard, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen display.

Under the hood, the car is powered by a plug-in hybrid engine that combines a naturally aspirated 3.5L V6 gasoline engine, two electric motors, and an e-CVT transmission. The gasoline engine produces a maximum power of 262 horsepower and a torque of 335 Nm. The front electric motors deliver 182 horsepower and 269 Nm, while the rear electric motor generates 109 horsepower and 168 Nm. Altogether, the car boasts a maximum power output of 406 horsepower.
The Toyota Century Convertible is expected to retain the original engine
Equipped with a 4WD system called E-Four, which includes electric motors on both axles, the car offers excellent traction. It also features a Dynamic Rear Steering system that enables rear-wheel steering and a Rear Comfort mode ensuring a smooth and comfortable ride for the rear passengers.
The pricing details for the Toyota Century Convertible have not been disclosed. The standard Toyota Century starts at 25 million yen (approximately 4.15 billion VND) in Japan.
