Toyota will expand its Land Cruiser lineup with the introduction of two new electric models by the end of this decade. Among them, the Land Cruiser SE stands out with its new battery pack technology, allowing for a range of up to 1,000 km on a full charge.

According to Carscoops, the all-electric Toyota Land Cruiser SE is set to debut in 2026, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Land Cruiser line. The exterior design of the Land Cruiser SE has been teased through a concept version unveiled in 2023. This model will feature advanced technologies such as Toyota’s solid-state batteries, promising to be produced at a lower cost with higher energy density compared to current batteries. Furthermore, a high-performance battery is scheduled to be launched in 2028 and will be equipped in the Land Cruiser SE, enabling a range of up to 1,000 km per charge. While it won’t prioritize off-road capabilities like the J250 Land Cruiser Prado, Toyota ensures that the Land Cruiser SE delivers “good handling” on rough roads.

In addition to the Land Cruiser SE, Toyota also has plans to introduce the Compact Cruiser EV. This model will fall into the D-segment SUV category, which is similar in size to the bZ4X and emphasizes off-road capabilities. In the future, the Compact Cruiser EV will directly compete with the all-electric versions of the Land Rover Defender and Mercedes-Benz G-Class.

The Compact Cruiser EV is developed based on the E-TNGA platform, just like the bZ4X. Currently, the Toyota bZ4X is equipped with an electric motor producing a maximum power of 214 horsepower and a 71.4 kWh battery pack, providing a range of up to 417 km on a single charge.

Additionally, the Compact Cruiser EV may also have gasoline and hybrid engine variants, according to Japanese media sources.

With the introduction of these two all-electric models, the Land Cruiser product range will undergo significant expansion by the end of this decade. According to Carscoops, Toyota plans to turn this nameplate into a separate brand. The goal of the automotive giant is to broaden the Land Cruiser product range with more affordable pricing and greater accessibility for users worldwide.
