Recently, images of two VinFast electric cars, VF e34 and VF 5, have appeared at the port in Indonesia, attracting a lot of attention from the online community.
Based on the shared images, both cars have differences compared to the ones available for sale in Vietnam. For example, the VF 5 model has black iron rims, while the VF e34 has black-painted rims and rear bumper.
Many people believe that these could be test models in preparation for the Indonesian market.
Prior to this, VinFast announced its plans to invest in the Indonesian market. In addition to importing cars from Vietnam, the company will invest $200 million (over VND 4,800 billion) to build an electric car manufacturing plant there, with an expected output of 30,000 – 50,000 cars per year.
In addition to VF 5 and VF e34, VF 6 and VF 7 are also models that will be introduced to the Indonesian market in the near future.
It is still unclear whether these cars are for retail or for market testing. It is also possible that they are display models for the upcoming international auto exhibition in Indonesia.
Recently, during his State visit to Vietnam, Indonesian President Joko Widodo visited the VinFast electric car and motorcycle manufacturing complex in Hai Phong and directly learned about the premium electric car models under the Vietnamese brand.
During his visit, President Widodo expressed his pleasure at visiting the factory and was impressed by the quality and class of VinFast cars. He also stated that he will create conditions for VinFast to complete the investment procedures for production and business in the Indonesian market.
