The Ferrari 296 is a special line of supercars from the iconic horse brand. Five decades ago, the company made waves in the street racing and racing car markets with its V6 engines. However, Ferrari later introduced V8 engines and installed them in many famous models. Therefore, the rekindling of the V6 engine with a 2.9-liter capacity and turbocharging for the Ferrari 296 supercar is an attention-grabbing feature for customers.

But that’s not all, this is also the second Ferrari product to be produced with a plug-in hybrid transmission system, the first being the Ferrari SF90. Therefore, the interest of customers in the Ferrari 296 is even higher, and they wonder what the famous supercar brand has done to maintain the appeal of the 296 model. Currently, there are 5 Ferrari 296 supercars in Vietnam, with 3 coupe models called GTB and 2 convertible versions called GTS.

Among them, the latest is the appearance of a Ferrari 296 GTS supercar in Ho Chi Minh City. Let’s quickly explore this model.

What’s hot about the second Ferrari 296 GTS in Vietnam?

Ferrari convertible supercars always attract customers, for example, Cường “Đô-la” had to wait a few more months after amending the purchase contract for the Ferrari SF90 Stradale to the Ferrari SF90 Spider. This is also the case with the Ferrari 296, as they have designed a very dynamic folding hardtop that makes it difficult to tell whether it’s a convertible or a coupe unless the top is down.

Instead of choosing the traditional colors of Ferrari like Rosso Corsa red or yellow, a wealthy individual in Ho Chi Minh City decided to dress this supercar in a stunning deep blue, making it the only Ferrari 296 GTS in the country with this color. The choice of color also adds a unique touch to the beloved car, whether it was purchased before or after.

In addition to the beautiful paint color, the Ferrari 296 GTS supercar also has a special option that costs an additional 1.5 billion VND.

Personalization options for the new Ferrari 296 GTS in Vietnam

On top of the deep blue exterior, car enthusiasts will surely be interested to see what standout features the second Ferrari 296 GTS in Vietnam has. The additional carbon package on the exterior, called Assetto Fiorano, can be understood as a tailored suit and shoes to increase confidence and aesthetics for the owner, instead of buying ready-made ones, and so on…

Upon close examination, it can be seen that the owner of this Ferrari 296 GTS convertible chose to add carbon elements to the exterior, including a front air splitter, side skirts, and rear diffuser, which enhance the aesthetic appeal of this supercar while significantly reducing weight.

However, it’s not just the aforementioned details that are valuable. The most expensive and beautiful additions are the carbon wheels. The owner of the new Ferrari 296 GTS in Vietnam opted for four sets of lightweight and sporty carbon wheels, which are significantly lighter than the standard ones.

How much do the carbon wheels on the Ferrari 296 GTS cost?

There are many reasons why customers purchasing a Ferrari from the official dealership overlook the option of carbon wheels. The most obvious reason is that if they are not regularly and properly maintained, they can easily get scratched, which can be heartbreaking. The number of Ferrari supercars in Vietnam with this option is quite limited.

Therefore, the presence of a Ferrari 296 GTS convertible equipped with carbon wheels shows the owner’s love for the brand. According to our research, the carbon wheels on the second Ferrari 296 GTS to arrive in Vietnam are 45% lighter than the standard wheels on the first Ferrari 296 GTS in the country, owned by a wealthy individual in Bac Lieu.

And of course, this option is not cheap. In fact, the cost of each set of carbon wheels is a whopping 375 million VND, which means the owner had to spend a total of 1.5 billion VND on the wheels alone for this supercar.

For many people, 1.5 billion VND can buy a variety of choices, from compact cars to MPVs and a few SUV models. But for supercar enthusiasts, that’s just enough to install four sets of carbon wheels on the Ferrari 296 GTS convertible.

What is the price of the Ferrari 296 GTS in Vietnam?

As one of the countries with the highest car taxes in the world, many people are curious to know how much Vietnamese billionaires have to spend to own a Ferrari. The official Ferrari distributor in Vietnam previously mentioned that customers ordering a Ferrari 296 GTS may have to wait 1.5 years to receive their convertible.

The standard price for a Ferrari 296 GTS starts at 23 billion VND, which is more expensive than the coupe version by 2 billion VND, excluding additional options and on-the-road costs. Considering the second Ferrari 296 GTS in Vietnam with additional carbon elements and the expensive carbon wheels, the final price will likely reach nearly 30 billion VND.

The key highlights of the Ferrari 296 GTS

The Ferrari 296 GTS inherits the power of the Ferrari 296 GTB supercar but has an advantage in terms of the ability to easily open or close the top within 14 seconds. The opening/closing process of the top of the newly launched Ferrari 296 GTS in Vietnam is convenient because the Italian manufacturer has integrated a button to control the top precisely on the central control panel, along with the correct lowering/raising of the small windows.

Even when you are driving the Ferrari 296 GTS convertible on the street or along a coastal road and want to lower the top, you just need to press the button as long as the speed is below 45 km/h, to avoid unfortunate accidents that may damage the car’s roof at high speeds. The integration of the folding roof feature into the design of the 296 GTS meant that Ferrari had to design an additional storage space for the roof, which increased the weight of the car by 70 kg compared to the Ferrari 296 GTB.

However, the Ferrari 296 GTS convertible still has a maximum power output of 654 horsepower and a peak torque of 425 Nm generated by the 2.9-liter turbocharged V6 engine, like the coupe version. Furthermore, the electric motor is installed between the internal combustion engine and the 8-speed transmission, allowing the convertible version to have an additional maximum power output of 164 horsepower and a peak torque of 315 Nm.

Thanks to the plug-in hybrid transmission system, the Ferrari 296 GTS convertible has a total power output of 818 horsepower and a peak torque of 740 Nm. This engine enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds before reaching a top speed of 330 km/h.
