The 2025 North American version of the Kia K5 has just been unveiled at the 2024 Chicago Auto Show.
The most important upgrades are focused under the hood. While the GT version continues to be equipped with a turbocharged 2.5L engine, producing a maximum power of 290 horsepower and a maximum torque of 422 Nm, the standard version will feature a new naturally aspirated engine.
The 1.6L turbocharged engine is no longer available, instead replaced by a 2.5L 4-cylinder inline engine. The new base engine on the 2025 Kia K5 provides a reasonable output of 191 horsepower, more than 11 horsepower than the old engine, but the torque has decreased from 264 Nm to 245Nm.
The new engine on the K5 can be optionally combined with the 4-wheel drive system when the sedan is equipped with the GT-line package. The car is equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission and a standard front-wheel drive system.
The GT models also come with a standard front-wheel drive system but with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Other features include 19-inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero tires, while GT-Line models have 18-inch wheels and standard K5 comes with 16-inch wheels.
Kia has also updated the LED daytime running light range called “Star Map LEDs,” giving the K5 a more modern look.
In the cabin, the 2025 Kia K5 has also been refined towards a simpler design. The car is equipped with a panoramic curved screen, which combines 2 screens in front of the driver and the center console. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity is now standard on the new K5 lineup.
In addition, the car is also equipped with a new Connected Car Navigation Cockpit system, which the Korean automaker claims is faster and smoother than the old system.
The base LXS version now comes with a smart cruise control system, parking distance warning system, and forward collision avoidance system. The slightly higher-end EX version will receive a premium Bose audio system, 10-way adjustable seats, Keyless Entry 2, heated steering wheel, power folding mirrors, etc.
The price of the 2025 Kia K5 for the North American market has not yet been announced.
