A special edition Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport called the Dragon has just been announced for auction in celebration of the Chinese New Year 2024, the Year of the Dragon. This is a limited production car that was manufactured 12 years ago to commemorate the Year of the Dragon in 2012.
This hypercar has its own name, the Veyron Grand Sport Wei Long, and it was first unveiled to the public at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show. Collecting Cars, the auction company, stated that the car has been driven very little over the past decade, with the odometer stopping at 8,428 km. The car is in almost-new condition, as it has been regularly maintained over the years, with the most recent service done in November 2023.
The Veyron Grand Sport Wei Long was designed by Bugatti and the German porcelain manufacturer Koenigliche. The car’s exterior is white, combined with a predominantly red interior. The dragon imagery includes the Chinese character for “Dragon” in the center of the wheel rims and on the headrests, as well as a dragon head design on the fuel cap and a dragon emblem between the seats.
The Veyron Grand Sport was produced in a limited quantity of 58 cars worldwide, and this “Wei Long” edition is number 50/58. Under the hood of the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport is a 8.0L W16 engine, producing a power output of 1,200 horsepower and a maximum torque of 1,500 Nm. This hypercar takes just 2.5 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h before reaching a top speed of 415 km/h, with the actual top speed potentially reaching 431 km/h.
At the time of its launch, the Veyron Grand Sport Wei Long had a price tag of around 2 million USD (approximately 48.85 billion VND). The selling price of this special edition car is currently unknown, but used Veyron cars usually trade at around 1.5 million USD (equivalent to 36.6 billion VND). Therefore, it is highly likely that this unique hypercar will be sold at a higher price.
