At the recent Honda Thanks Day event, Honda Vietnam officially introduced the new 2024 Winner X model, and I was lucky enough to be one of the first to experience this manual transmission bike. The Winner X has already made a name for itself in the underbone 150cc segment as a stylish and high-performance bike. However, in the new version, Honda has improved the bike’s performance and refined its design to provide users with an even more outstanding sports experience.

One of the most impressive upgrades on the Honda Winner X is the addition of a two-way slipper clutch, which helps minimize wheel lock-up when downshifting in unexpected situations and improves control and safety at high speeds. This technology is usually only found on larger bikes and sport racing bikes, which shows how Honda caters to Vietnamese riders.
The “heart” of the Honda Winner X 2024 is the 150cc, 4-valve, 6-speed, liquid-cooled engine.
The “heart” of the Honda Winner X 2024 is the 150cc, 4-valve, 6-speed, liquid-cooled engine. After 4 years on the market under the name WINNER X (previously known as WINNER, which was first introduced in Vietnam in 2016) and undergoing several improvements, the powerful engine of the Honda Winner X has been proven. The Honda manual transmission bike is highly regarded for its ease of use and control in urban areas, while still meeting the needs of those who want to experience the thrill of speed.
In the new version of the Winner X, the ignition coil (spark plug coil) has also been refined, along with the ignition coil, to improve ignition during startup and provide a smoother and more responsive throttle. Vibration reduction technology, achieved through the use of a counterweight and bearings to minimize noise and vibration, is still equipped on the Winner X 2024, providing a more comfortable ride at high speeds and on long journeys.
In the Special and Sports versions, users will enjoy the added feature of ABS brakes. This is a necessary feature that gives riders confidence in all road conditions. I experienced this firsthand during the test ride. Twisting the throttle to around 4,000 – 5,000 RPM, the bike consistently pushed forward before shifting gears. That’s why Honda equipped the Winner X with an ABS system, ensuring safer driving at high speeds and during sudden braking on slippery or wet roads.
In addition, the Winner X is still equipped with an O-ring chain in both the Sports and Special versions, which increases the chain’s durability and provides a smooth operation at all speeds, while also saving maintenance time.
The Winner X 2024 comes standard with the PGM-Fi electronic fuel injection system, developed by Honda to minimize friction and achieve fuel efficiency while optimizing performance.
In addition to improving its performance for a more exhilarating ride and comfortable handling, the Honda Winner X 2024 has also undergone design refinements to enhance its distinctive sports character. In the new version, the Winner X 2024 continues to maintain its sporty and dynamic design with its signature bodywork and customizable decals in various eye-catching color combinations.
The wheel set of the Winner X 2024 has been redesigned with 5 Y-shaped spokes instead of 6 as before. The front wheel is 282 grams lighter and the rear wheel is 170 grams lighter compared to the 2023 version, making the bike more agile and comfortable to handle. The rear end features a redesigned license plate light with a matte black finish, giving the bike a sleeker look.
In terms of convenience and technology, the Honda Winner X 2024 provides a sense of both technology and practicality with the Smart Key feature available on all 3 versions. This feature provides remote keyless entry and theft prevention, similar to keyless entry systems in cars.
The bike is equipped with an LED key lock with a light-up feature when the bike is started. This feature is especially useful when I use the bike at night or in poorly lit areas. In addition, the bike also has a waterproof Type A USB charging port on both the Special and Sports versions, allowing riders to charge their smart devices at any time during the journey.
With its sporty design, practical features, and upgraded performance, the Honda Winner X 2024 promises to remain the top choice for young people who enjoy the thrill of riding on all roads in Vietnam.
