Dragons are mythical creatures, but they are a familiar image to many Eastern countries. According to folklore, dragons are a symbol of power, authority, wealth, and prosperity.

Recognizing this, many major car brands have released special editions inspired by this mythical creature. Here are some car models that take inspiration from the dragon.

Bugatti Chiron Super Sport “Red Dragon”

Recently, Bugatti delivered a special edition of the Chiron Super Sport called “Red Dragon” – Xích Long, inspired by the dragon, to the chairman of Toro Group (Singapore) on the occasion of the Year of the Dragon 2024. This special edition features a Red Carbon exterior with a Super Sport racing stripe in Nocturne Black. Additionally, it is equipped with the optional Sky View roof, valued at more than 1.46 billion VND. Other unique features include circular air vents inspired by the Bugatti EB 110, optimized tire pressure at high speeds, 5-spoke wheels with red brake calipers, and a dark red logo similar to the Red Carbon exterior. The exhaust system is inspired by the Lightning F.6 fighter jet, and the car has an upgraded engine cover made of polished aluminum alloy. Inside, the Red Dragon edition features luxurious handcrafted materials such as genuine leather and carbon fiber. The interior color scheme combines white Blanc and black Beluga Black with red Hot Spur stitching. The Chiron Super Sport Red Dragon is powered by an 8.0L W16 engine with 4 turbochargers, delivering a maximum output of 1,600 horsepower and a maximum torque of 1,600 Nm. It is paired with a dual-clutch 7-speed transmission and a 4-wheel drive system. Bugatti will only produce 60 units of the Chiron Super Sport worldwide with a starting price of approximately 95 billion VND.

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport “Wei Long”

In 2012, Bugatti also released a limited edition Veyron Grand Sport called “Wei Long” (majestic dragon). The car stands out with its Porcelain White exterior and some ceramic details such as the fuel cap and wheel logo. The interior of the car features a vibrant red color with dragon-inspired details, including embroidered Chinese characters meaning “dragon” on the headrests. The floor mats are handcrafted and stamped with the word “dragon”.

Pagani Huayra Dinastia

In 2015, Pagani introduced three special edition Huayra models inspired by the Chinese legend “Nine Sons of the Dragon.” The first model, called “Baxia,” features a carbon fiber exterior in ocean blue. It is inspired by a dragon with a turtle-like body, often used as a pedestal for stone stelae, pillars, and stone tablets. The second model, named “Yazi,” stands out with its Viola Dragon purple exterior. It is inspired by the dragon-headed wolf, often depicted on ancient swords. The third model, “Chiwen,” has an Oro Giallo yellow exterior with the Pacchetto Tempesta package. It is inspired by the offspring of a dragon and a fish.

Koenigsegg Regera “Mandarin Dragon”

Introduced in early 2020, the Koenigsegg Regera “Mandarin Dragon” symbolizes the “Eastern dragon.” The car’s chassis number, 168, is featured on the C-pillar, which signifies “a path to prosperity” in Chinese culture. It features a Sweet Mandarin Pearl exterior and a Desiato black leather interior with contrasting Lava Orange Diamond stitching.

Koenigsegg Agera RS Draken

The Koenigsegg Agera RS Draken was designed exclusively for car collector Dan Kang. “Draken” means dragon in Swedish and is named after a fighter jet used by the Swedish Air Force at the airport where Koenigsegg conducts their testing. The exterior of the “Draken” is made entirely of carbon fiber, and to enhance its beauty, the car is coated with a layer of “diamond dust” to give it a distinctive shimmer. The black exterior is complemented with white accents on various details like the air intakes and vents.

Apollo Intensa Emozione

The Apollo Intensa Emozione is a limited-production hypercar with only 10 units available worldwide. It has a hefty price tag of $2.67 million. Each Intensa Emozione is named after one of the nine dragon sons in Chinese mythology. These include Ocean Dragon, Red Dragon, Carbon Dragon, Blue Dragon, Golden Dragon, Black Dragon, Orange Dragon, and Purple Dragon.

Ferrari 458 Italia China 20th Anniversary

In 2012, Ferrari introduced the “Year of the Dragon” special edition for the 458 Italia, specially designed for the Chinese market. The exterior features dragon-inspired designs, such as a large dragon emblem on the hood and dragon decals along the sides of the car. The interior showcases luxury materials and Chinese calligraphy embroidery, including the word “dragon” on the headrests and Chinese characters replacing the “Start” button.

Ferrari 612 Scaglietti China Tour 2005 Edition

Introduced in 2005, the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti China Tour 2005 Edition features a large golden dragon painted on the hood. This special edition is known for completing a 24,000 km journey across China in 45 days, conquering various terrains such as hills, deserts, and snow.

Aston Martin Dragon 88

In 2012, Aston Martin unveiled the Dragon 88 Limited Edition, featuring 88 specially customized cars to celebrate the Year of the Dragon. Each Aston Martin Dragon 88 comes with unique features such as 24k gold-plated double-wing badges, hand-embroidered dragon motifs, and a choice of three exclusive exterior colors: Amethyst Red, Volcano Red, or Champagne Gold.

Jeep Wrangler Dragon Edition

In 2013, Jeep introduced the Wrangler Dragon Edition, based on the Wrangler Dragon concept shown at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show. This limited edition stands out with a dragon decal in charcoal gray on the hood and along the body. It also features various bronze accents, such as the front grille, headlight bezels, and Jeep lettering on the front fender. Additionally, it comes with 18-inch bronze-finished alloy wheels with dragon-shaped center caps.

McLaren 570GT MSO Cabbeen Collection

In 2018, McLaren unveiled the 570GT MSO Cabbeen Collection at the Beijing Auto Show. This special edition 570GT features a black Obsidian Black exterior with hand-painted gold dragon motifs on the doors, roof, and front splitter. The interior showcases handcrafted Alcantara upholstery with dragon-inspired designs embroidered by Kang Huifang, a renowned Chinese embroidery artist.

Rolls-Royce “Year of the Dragon” 2024

Rolls-Royce recently unveiled the “Year of the Dragon” Bespoke collection, representing the Year of the Dragon 2024, limited to three Phantom Extended models and one Cullinan. These special editions feature dragon motifs throughout the interior and exterior, including the sides, coachline, headrests, dashboards, and Starlight headliners.

In 2012, Rolls-Royce introduced the “Year of the Dragon” special edition for the long-wheelbase Phantom VII. This limited edition, with only 33 units produced worldwide, features intricate dragon motifs on the front fenders. The interior is adorned with gold-plated metal treadplates engraved with “Year of the Dragon 2012” and sheepskin floor mats. The Phantom’s interior combines luxurious high-quality leather and wood veneer with eye-catching patterns.
