MG One is a C-segment SUV that was first introduced in the Chinese market in late 2021. It is now preparing to be sold in the Southeast Asian market, specifically in the Philippines.

MG One 2024 was exhibited in the Philippines in December last year. After more than a month, the price of the car was revealed before its official launch at the end of this month.

Accordingly, in the Philippines market, the Lux version of MG One 2024 is priced at 1,458,888 Peso (about 634 million VND). If this price is accurate, the car will be more expensive than its segment sibling, the MG HS Trophy (1,308,888 Peso).

MG One 2024 is expected to have a higher price than the HS model.

Although the MG One 2024 has a higher price, it has a smaller size than the HS model. Specifically, the car has dimensions of 4,579 x 1,866 x 1,601 mm (length x width x height) and a wheelbase of 2,670 mm. Compared to the MG HS, this C-segment SUV has a 50 mm shorter wheelbase.

MG One 2024 has a wheelbase similar to a B+ segment SUV.

Applying the Dual Front Face design language of the MG brand, this model features a large grille, compact headlight cluster with integrated LED daytime running lights, and a sporty front bumper. Similar to the MG5 and HS, the MG One 2024 also has a sloping front end, reminiscent of a “shark hunting its prey”.

The roof gradually slopes towards the rear in a coupe-like style and is painted in contrasting color to the body. The car is equipped with 19-inch dual-spoke alloy wheels. In addition, it features LED taillights that have a similar design as the headlights, a double-split wing on the rear canopy in a racing car style, a rear diffuser with integrated air vents, and rectangular-shaped faux exhaust tips.

Inside the MG One 2024 is a 2-row, 5-seater interior space. The highlight of the interior is the 3 screens with a total size of 30 inches that surround the driver. The left screen is used to adjust the lights while the LCD screen in the middle serves as a digital instrument cluster. The right screen, with a size of 12.3 inches, is for the infotainment system, supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

In addition, this Chinese model also features leatherette seats, power-adjustable seats, electronic gear selector, push-button start, wireless phone charging, electronic parking brake, and panoramic sunroof.

The “heart” of the MG One 2024 in the Philippines market is a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine with a maximum output of 181 hp and a peak torque of 285 Nm. This engine is paired with a CVT automatic transmission.

Underneath the body is the SAIC Motor Intelligent Global Architecture (SIGMA) chassis. Unlike some of its segment rivals, the car uses an independent suspension system on both axles.

Finally, there are safety features such as 6 airbags, ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), electronic stability control, hill-start assist, tire pressure sensors, and a 360-degree camera. This Chinese car does not have active safety features (ADAS) like its segment rivals. This will be a significant disadvantage of this Chinese car.

The chance of MG One being sold in Vietnam is likely to be low. The reason is that the Chinese brand already has 2 C-segment SUVs in Vietnam, which are the MG RX5 and HS.
