The head of Porsche’s design department recently expressed a desire to expand into the small multi-purpose vehicle segment, drawing inspiration from the Vision Renndienst concept model.

Vision Renndienst is a concept van model that Porsche introduced in 2020. In the future, the company plans to develop this vehicle alongside its famous sports car models like the Cayenne, Macan, Taycan, and Panamera.

This statement was made by Varga, the head of Porsche’s design department, at the launch event of the new Macan model in Singapore.

If Porsche truly develops a small-sized van based on the Vision Renndienst concept, it would be difficult to maintain the original cabin design. This is because the Vision Renndienst has a steering wheel placed in the center, which is inconvenient and limits the driver’s visibility.

It is unclear whether Porsche’s idea of developing a MPV in their lineup will become a reality. Previously, in 2021, a member of Porsche’s sales and marketing management board affirmed that the company would remain focused on producing sports cars. Building a production version of the van is not part of their plans.
