Hyundai recently spotted testing a prototype of its upcoming pure electric Creta on the roads of South Korea. This move signals Hyundai’s strong push towards electrifying its vehicle lineup, in line with the global automotive industry’s overall trend.
The electric variant of the Creta is expected to launch in 2025, likely alongside the new generation or an upgraded version of the current model. From the captured images, a noticeable protrusion can be seen below the vehicle’s body, most likely to accommodate the car’s battery pack. The absence of an exhaust system further emphasizes that this is a fully electric model.
While Hyundai has not yet disclosed specific details about the electric powertrain and battery pack, experts are optimistic about the performance and range of the Creta EV. This prediction is built upon Hyundai’s reputation for providing innovative and reliable vehicle models.
Currently, Hyundai’s electric vehicle lineup in India includes the Ioniq 5 and Kona EV. The Creta EV is expected to be priced at 2,500,000-3,000,000 Rs (equivalent to 30,000 – 36,000 USD) and will compete with rivals such as the Harrier EV and Seltos EV.
Hyundai’s commitment to introduce 6 electric vehicle models in India by 2028 underscores the company’s ambition to lead the electric vehicle segment in the Korean automaker. As the company expands its electric vehicle portfolio, the launch of the Creta EV marks an important milestone in Hyundai’s strategy to dominate the rapidly growing electric vehicle market in India.
