A soon-to-be-launched electric pickup truck by Hyundai has been proposed to be called the Ioniq T10, according to a recent trademark application filed in Australia. The application was filed on December 27, 2023, with various related information including “automobiles,” “electric automobiles,” and “parts and accessories for automobiles.” Notably, the use of the ‘Ioniq’ name suggests that the vehicle will be linked to Hyundai’s electric vehicle brand, specifically the current Ioniq models.
It is speculated that the ’10’ in the name signifies that the vehicle will be positioned, at least in terms of size, as a flagship in Hyundai’s electric vehicle lineup, ranking above the upcoming Ioniq 7 and the Kia EV9 SUV version of Hyundai.
The information also mentions that although the trademark application was filed in Australia, this market will not be the primary market for the vehicle. It is predicted that this electric pickup truck will also be available in North America, although it is still unclear whether it will be suitable for larger models like the Ford F-150 and GMC Sierra or smaller midsize trucks like the Chevy Colorado.
The design of the vehicle is expected to be as striking as the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, and it may share mechanical components with other Hyundai electric vehicles, including electric motors and a battery pack. It is highly likely that the vehicle will come with a dual-motor setup for four-wheel drive capability, but there may also be a rear-wheel drive version with a single motor.
Hyundai appears to be also exploring a second electric pickup truck model, filing a separate trademark application for the name Ioniq T7. This model may be smaller than the Ioniq T10 and could have similar dimensions to the Santa Cruz or even larger.
Current reports suggest that Hyundai could be ready to launch the new model in 2025 or 2026. Kia is known to be researching a diesel-powered pickup truck model believed to be named ‘Tasman,’ which is expected to eventually introduce a fully electric variant.
