BYD is believed to be expanding its product lineup by developing a pickup truck.
This is evident from some leaked images in China, where this new pickup is still in the testing phase, so many areas of the exterior are heavily covered.
However, based on some recent patent images, the front of the truck bears resemblance to the Ford F-150 Lightning and Ford Ranger.
BYDÂ has chosen a traditional yet strong and practical design for its new pickup truck.
From the leaked images, it can be seen that the front of the truck has a silver skid plate, black plastic bumper, and a headlight cluster connected by a LED light bar. However, this area of the test vehicle is covered with adhesive tape.
The side of the truck looks rugged and muscular with wheel arches, large mirrors, and wide door sills. The rear of the truck is simpler than the front, with taillights and a LED light bar running in the middle.
As for the interior, the cabin of the BYD pickup truck offers a different space compared to its competitors in the market. The vehicle has a simple instrument cluster, accompanied by a large infotainment screen, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, a center control module with a gear lever, 2 large door handles, large control buttons/levers, and 2 wireless phone charging pads…
According to rumors, the BYD pickup truck will be available in both pure electric and plug-in hybrid versions. The PHEV version is expected to be equipped with a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine combined with two electric motors, producing a total power of about 490 horsepower.
