On February 15th, Suzuki officially introduced the 5-door version of the Jimny SUV to customers in Indonesia at the opening of the 2024 IIMS Expo. As of February 18th, Suzuki has received 1,200 orders for this small SUV.

Prior to the 2024 IIMS Expo, Suzuki had already started accepting pre-orders for this model. Therefore, this is not the number of orders received only within the 3 days of the expo.

According to Harold Donnell, Marketing Director of Suzuki Indonesia, the customers who placed orders for the 5-door Jimny were quite diverse, with the majority of them being previous Suzuki owners who had owned a Jimny before. In addition, most customers opted for the highest trim level with the two-tone exterior paint job of the 5-door Jimny.

Indonesia is the second Southeast Asian market to receive this SUV, following the Philippines. In the Indonesian market, the Jimny 5-door comes in 4 variants with prices ranging from 462 – 478.6 million Rupiah (approximately 720 – 746 million Vietnamese Dong). Therefore, this model is priced similarly to the 5-door Jimny in the Philippines and cheaper than the speculated price for the 3-door version in Vietnam. The 3-door Jimny is expected to have a starting price of 789 million Vietnamese Dong.

The 5-door Jimny has an increased length of 170 mm and a slightly longer wheelbase of 340 mm compared to the 3-door version. Furthermore, the vehicle has a ground clearance of 210 mm, a minimum turning radius of 5.7 meters, an approach angle of 36 degrees, a departure angle of 24 degrees, and a ramp breakover angle of 47 degrees.

The exterior design of this model is essentially the same as the 3-door version, except for the addition of 2 side doors and a chrome grille. It features round headlights, a vertical slatted grille, fog lights on the front bumper, prominent wheel arch cladding, 15-inch alloy wheels, 195/80R15 tires, a rear bumper with integrated taillights, and a spare tire mounted on the rear door, all of which are equipped on the 5-door Suzuki Jimny.

Inside, the 5-door Jimny retains the 2-row, 4-seater interior of the 3-door Jimny. However, the luggage compartment capacity has increased to 211 liters when utilizing both rows of seats.

In the Indonesian market, the 5-door Suzuki Jimny is equipped with features such as fabric seats, an analog instrument cluster, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, smartphone connectivity, and automatic air conditioning.

The vehicle still uses a naturally aspirated 4-cylinder gasoline engine with a displacement of 1.5L, producing a maximum power of 105 horsepower and a maximum torque of 136 Nm, similar to the 3-door version. This engine is combined with a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission and a 4WD AllGrip Pro drivetrain. The vehicle’s drivetrain has 3 modes: 2H (2WD High), 4H (4WD High), and 4L (4WD Low).

The 5-door Suzuki Jimny for the Indonesian market will be imported from India with a monthly quantity of about 200 units, more than the 3-door version.
