Great Wall Motor (GWM) is no longer a stranger to the Chinese and international markets. GWM has now entered the Vietnamese market with its subsidiary brand, Haval.

The Chinese automaker currently owns 5 subsidiary brands: GWM, Haval, Ora, Wey, and Tank. In the near future, GWM will launch a new subsidiary brand called ZX.

Expected to be introduced to the market this year, ZX is positioned as a luxury brand, competing with renowned names such as Rolls-Royce, Bentley, and Mercedes-Maybach. In the domestic Chinese market, ZX will target the newly established YangWang brand by BYD and Hongqi.

According to some sources, ZX will focus on the development, production, and distribution of new energy vehicles (NEV). This is a term used in the Chinese automotive industry to refer to plug-in hybrid vehicles, electric vehicles, and vehicles powered by hydrogen fuel cells.

The first model of the ZX brand will be a sedan aimed at competing with the Rolls-Royce Ghost, Bentley Flying Spur, Mercedes-Maybach S580, and Yangwang U7. GWM has quickly released the first concept images of this car.

From the concept images, it can be seen that the car features a 4-door sedan design with a traditional body ratio. In addition, it has a bold exterior design with curved lines and chrome details as highlights.

The ideation, design, and structure of the ZX car were carried out at GWM’s research and development centers located in Austria, Germany, Japan, and the United States. It is expected that the concept version of this car will be officially unveiled at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show, which will take place in April this year.

The market release date of the new luxury car under the ZX brand has not been announced. It is only known that the car will be distributed through a separate sales channel, separate from GWM and its other subsidiary brands. GWM has already started recruiting personnel to develop a direct sales network for the new subsidiary brand.

In 2020, GWM first revealed its intention to enter the luxury car segment by showcasing the Futurist concept car with a retro design at the Beijing Auto Show.

In addition to China and Vietnam, GWM is present in more than 60 markets worldwide. In 2023, the company sold a total of 1,230,704 vehicles globally, representing a 15.3% growth compared to 2022. Notably, GWM’s vehicle exports from China increased by 82.5% to 316,018 units last year. In 2023 alone, the 5 subsidiary brands of GWM launched 10 new NEV models, achieving a total sales volume of 262,003 vehicles.

This year, GWM will introduce 2 new models in the Vietnamese market: Haval Jolion and Tank 300. Both models are fully imported from Thailand, similar to Haval H6. While Haval Jolion is a B-segment SUV, the Tank 300 is positioned in the D-segment SUV segment. Sales consultants at dealerships have started accepting bookings for Haval Jolion.
